Don't have time to explain now (I'm at work) but Jer you shouldn't assume something about me if you're not sure. I live 1.5 hrs away from GAdv, and I've ridden KK maybe 70 times over the years. I'll detail my thoughts on the subject this evening.

You get in lots of arguments.

Thanks for the observation. Mine observation is that you're negative about everything.

Anyways...
A few notes from my many experiences. I've almost exclusively ridden front car, though I've done back row a few times. To me the back row rides could be seen as being a bit violent, but never remotely painful. I have not once come off the ride in any sort of pain (as I have with Rolling Thunder once or twice), nor have I ever seen anyone with an expression of pain. I could expect a first time coaster rider getting off the back and being a bit shaken up, but as I said I've never actually seen that happen. Front car rides are relatively smooth, maybe not as smooth as I remember Dragster being, but still not bad at all. Considering the line is rarely longer for the second row than the rest of the train, there's no reason for me to ride anything else, so I can base my opinion of the ride on how I choose to ride it.

The launch is no longer segmented. I spoke to Larry Chickola a couple years ago and he told me they knew about the issue, and had mostly fixed it, and since then it's been even better. This is also not me saying that just because he's the head engineer of Six Flags...he told me some other things I don't agree with. The way it is now though, basically the launch is different from TTD in that there's less initial jerk. However, there's no warning like on TTD, so new riders will not know when it will launch. It works out so riders don't need to have their head back to avoid whiplash. The rest of the launch is approximately constant acceleration.

Also seems almost everyone is pumped after their rides, as they get off clapping and smiling and talking about their ride. That's also a pretty consistent observation. I've ridden with friends with varying interest in coasters (none of whom are "enthusiasts") and they've all loved it. Even though I think El Toro is a better coaster design, personally my front car rides on Kingda Ka are equally exciting. I don't think you need hills to have a fun coaster...the speed on the thing is just ridiculous. I see it's your opinion (though you somewhat rudely expressed it as fact), but I just don't understand how 128mph with no windshield can be boring. Maybe we look for something different in coasters, but I choose to ride a given coaster because the experience is fun, whatever style experience that may be, not because of something like nostalgia, a coaster count or even because it has the most airtime.

Also, saying you can't form an opinion on a coaster you didn't ride is hypocritical. Do you not form opinions on rides at parks you haven't been to? How do you decide what park to go to? Is it only because of proximity and price, not which coasters they have and their quality? I highly doubt, as someone who is really into coasters, that you look for the former.

And yeah, as far as it being your home park, I say: "OBJECTION!...Relevance!"

Come on guys, lets not turn this into another "who can be the biggest dick" contest, it is really getting old. For once it would be nice if at least one thread can stay on topic, you know, just to shake things up a bit. Now, how 'bout that new coaster? when does it open to the public?

^It opens on the 25th to the public, still open the season pass holders til tomorrow, and i'll probably be going to snag another few rides.

As for KK, It's really nothing special to me anymore, and I dont understand everyone questioning it, I dont care about how fast im going without a windshield, because honestly, I dont feel any speed difference between Nitro and KK, it's rough, for an Intamin it's rough, and I do get shaken up so much I pretty much only ride front row to avoid it. There also hearing from everybody how amazing the ride is, it wears thin it really does.

I hope that is a better way to express my opinion.

The home park thing is relevant because being 30mins away form gadv im there almost 3 times a week, compared to being 1.5hrs away, thats A LOT farther and a lot more gas buddy.

I'm calling BS on that. Theres is almost a 50 mph difference. I could Definitely tell the difference between MF and TTD and their speeds are even closer.

Eh... could be because you aren't accelerating on MF like you are on TTD. I would say that a ride that accelerates faster than another naturally feels faster. Though after about 80 or so all I know is I'm going really really fast. lol

I personally respect DCs's experience more because he has ridden more coasters then Jer and has more knowledge. I'm not saying I don't respect your opinion Jer, In fact you are one of the people on this site who's opinion I respect the highest because you too have a lot of experience. Plus, being older then me and having more experience, You opinion is valued as with everyone on this site who is older and/or more experienced. But, there are exceptions. For Example: CK may be older and more experienced then me, but he is an ignorant douche bag so his opinion has no say because, like I said, he is an ignorant douche bag.

Seriously jer? What does gas have to do with an opinion of Kingda Ka? Please think before you speak.

"OBJECTION...Sustained" lol

Chickenbowl, I agree fully. It's extremely obvious, especially in the front rows. People have bodyparts flapping from the wind intensity on Kingda Ka. Cheeks, eyebrows, eyelids, lips...that does not happen on Nitro.

Jcoasters, for me it doesn't have much to do with how many coasters you've been on. It's about understanding of related concepts. There are people who have ridden hundreds of coasters who have no clue what they're talking about, and those who haven't ridden too many who work for design companies. Saying things that make sense and are insightful would make me respect someone's opinion, whereas saying a ride that clearly satisfies the target demographic is a "POS," then saying your opinion is most valid because of your proximity to the park, has the opposite effect.

They're getting closer and closer to 3d...keep trying Six Flags, almost there!

Looks like it will be pretty cool though. Not a fan of this new theming style they've used on GL, plus both Bizarro coasters, but for what it is, it should look good.

I think it would be better looking if the whole thing was painted green, but this looks nice too.
