Here is a new project, a GCI woodie. It won't be given up this time...
I've been inspired by Thunderbird -or Evel Knievel, they have the same layout- for the global shaping of the layout and by Troy for the turn just before the future fly-through. The ride and the supports will be entirely hand made. Tell me what you think. :?:

^ 2 overall view pics.

^ Headchopper :!:

Image
^ Another overall view.

Image
^ I can see airtime.

Image
^ A Troy-ish turn around... :)

Image
^ A big knot ? It won't look like it when support work will be entirely done.

Image
^ "Next-To-Another" turn, with a 65????????? banked turn in the bottom.

Image
^ Oh another one ?

Image
^ Right, another one.

Image
^ I'm quite proud of the support work I've done with that part of the ride...

Image
^ Red/Yellow train.

Image
^ Green/Yellow train.

I keep working "hard" on the supports. More is coming soon !

PS : The supports work on the lift hill is not finished yet.

Wow, this looks awesome! It actually looks like an improvement of Evel's layout!

It looks like you're using the Sabertooth environment, right?
And what about this straight section in the 6th pic?

I'm not using Sabertooth's environment, I've been based off a Real's coaster's environment (Outlaw), I asked him to base mine off his of course, then I made out my own environment. Actually I think I only used his Outlaw's skybox pictures.
About that straight section, it's going to be a "fly-through" the station, like Troy or Terminator Salvation - The Ride.

Its kinda high placed in the station or is that a thing of the angle? How high is the differance between the station track and the fly through?

Nolimiters : Yes, I did.

LEOA : The station is 4.5m under the fly through. But it will not be too much, the way I'm planning how the guests would come in and out the station need that height. And you know, it will actually not be a part of the station (with the station roof over the fly through), guests will only be able to see the left side and the under part of the train.

Update !

I kept making the supports... I made the lift's and 1st drop's supports, + the transfert track little building.

Here's a new pack of screenshots.

The building in that picture is so clearly not the station. Also, what's wrong with the supports in that picture?

Thank you devilrule.

@ Oblivionfreak : Do you know how to read a text ? I never talked about a station that has been made... I said I made the transfert tracks building. Thank you all the same...

oh sorry my bad.. i didnt read i was flicking through photos. and gouldy if that was in reality there would be a high possibility of the weight of the train ripping the slate of the roof and causing the supports to collapse. or maybe it's made differently but from what i can see it would happen. no offence its still a great coaster and i suppose its not real so theres no point nit picking from your support design anyway. Way better than i could do

This designed to be real(istic)... So, I'm open to all suggests about the supports over the transfert tracks... You're right : it's quite light but I just don't know how to make it in another way. Do you have any ideas ?

yeah, I don't think it's actually resting on the roof. At either side of the roof, the supports connect to the wooden structure of the building and in the middle, I would say the structure passes through the roof and attached to the wooden structre that way. In reality there would probably be some small gap around the beam that went through the roof, so that the structure could flex with the movement of the train. Also, it's only the lift hill, it's not a high g turn of some kind [lol]

Yes, the support structure isn't on the roof, it passes through it, the roof does not support anything than itself. So gouldy, you think it's right ?

The way to make it truly structuraly sound would be like this:

Image

What I have shown is the wooden structure travelling directly down through the building and to the ground, rather than attaching to the middle of a horizontal beam. As you can see though, that would interfere with your transfer track type thingy, so I don't know if you could do this. But you could for sure make sure that the vertical beams took the load correctly on the outside of the structure, as shown. Rather than the force being transfered perpendicularly through a horizontal beam.

That's all I can say really in terms of improving it realistically. That aside, I don't think you really need to, to be honest. It is only the lift hill, I think it is probably just about acceptable as is. Maybe if you just beef up the horizontal beams in the buildings roof? Or even make them out of steel I-beam of something?

makes sense, steel has a much greater stength under tension than wood, as you can imagine. Well, much greater strength than wood, period.

Yeah but that means it has to handle sustained weight for longer
