for fun maybe?
some people dont want to take the time to learn all the things involved in playing real guitar.
the game is just something fun to play, you can basically pick it up and start playing, yeah you might not be great to start out with, but its a lot easier to pick up then the real thing.

I wish nerdy gamers would put there lives to use and actually learn how to play a real guitar...

I wish guitar players would put their lives to use and actually learn that many people who play Guitar Hero can play real guitars, and everyone that does play it does so because it's a fun game.

I can only think of two people I know that play GH and don't play guitar. Everyone else I know plays both real and game.

tbh im not bothered about whichever game i get, will the GH3 guitar work with RB2? because right now i'm pretty undecided, and everyone's saying that GHWT is too "12 year old" and RB2 is cleaner. I dunno which imma get.

Yes it works with it. Heres a Matrix of all the periphs and what they work and don't work on.

It actually got me to pick up a guitar and learn to play some. So the influence cant be so bad.

But what about shooters? Does everyone who plays a realistic shooter have to go through a marksman class? Or to play Madden do you have to be a real NFL player?

This game has drawn a lot of criticism and anyone who plays it and thinks they can play guitar even remotely alright without having picked one up is just naive. Let go of it. Its the same as people I used to know who thought because they could aim a gun with a mouse very well they could pick up a gun and do the same.

Don't get all worked up about people who play one of these music rhythm games and doesn't play a real instrument. Its not the end of the world.
