Me being a guy who likes theming, I am just appalled by what some r-tards do with their rides these days.

That is sad. I remember when it happened to BMRX, there was some talk that the themed sections internal support structure had deteriorated to the point where they'd have to re-build it completely or just tear it down. Not being a popular park with lots of cash flow guess which one they did. It's all moot now anyway since the park closed in 2005 and it's two Schwarzkopf's are MIA.

That's probably the same thing that happened to "Rocket Rider Rollercoaster", that kind of full-ride theming is expensive to maintain, you differ upkeep for a little while and all too soon you're looking at structural breakdown. It leads to rusted out main supports and/or rampant termite damage to the superstructure requiring major reconstruction or demolition. You'll notice "Backyardigans: Mission to Mars" conveniently has much less actual theming to maintain.

It'd be interesting to find out how much Disney has sunk into maintaining the Matterhorn's theme. I know it seems like every winter they rip out a part of the mountain and re-build it. Not many people know but most of Disneyland was built under "temporary structure" building permits so Disney didn't have to conform to the full suit of building codes and could cut corners. They've payed for it since then of coarse, that's a big part of the major rebuilds in the park. For example the complete tear-down and re-build of Fantasyland, the yearly overhauling of the Matterhorn, the shuttering and eventual draining and reconstruction of the submarine ride (which had been eating away the sandy soil under the Inoventions building), the shuttering of the Rocket Rods who's vibrations were damaging the older Tomorrowland buildings and the tear-down and complete re-construction of Space Mountain.

Save now, pay more later.

Yep, Disneyland was initially built on a budget, and they were quite wise with their spendings.

Well, thank God that was the case for Space Mountain, since the new one is love awesome!

That's sort of why I liked the one in Florida a bit better. More planets and poop flying around. The lift hill was better, and I like the layout of the FL one way more.

The pre-2005 Space Mountain was a bit better too, but only because of that crazy-cool red planet. Oh well. Now it's an unseen rock.

True Disneyland could not have been built on time at it's initial scale if corners hadn't been cut. As it was Walt had workers transplanting weeds from the surrounding area and labeling with Latin sounding names just to fill in space and he and his brother mortgage their houses to the hilt.

Speaking of the Matterhorn and mortgages, in 1959 four years after the opening of Disneyland Roy Disney, Walt's brother and financial partner, officially canceled the Matterhorn project as being too expensive and risky. Not long thereafter Roy went to Europe on business and Walt re-mortgaged his house and used the money to un-cancel the Matterhorn.

Besides that, Movie Park also needed the nickelodeon Area to be an open space. A large mountain would obstruct the view over the nickland area.

Oh, this really sucks! I've been to Movie Park (well, it was called WBMW then) and even rode this ride as an intro. I thought it was a cool junior coaster thanks to the theming, but now it's just... well... normal and boring.
