Okay, so I'm new to this whole new limits thing. I cant seem to find any fault with the program. I personaly love it and think it is the best roller coaster sim out there.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK. OUT OF 1-10, 10 being highest, how do you rank No Limits.

I GIVE IT A 9

I don't seem to like this topic, but it makes some sense.

8.5/10 - not enough types of coaster(intamin looper[:)]) and costomizable supports(colorable). NL overall is the best sim I've ever used.

Don't have it but don't create topics like this becuase then they will bash you.
Trim breaks are your enemy, retracking/smoothing is your friend. I miss b&m floored sit downs. coaster count=39

And now he learns [lol]

Well, in spite of his hard thought out time to post this (you did think about it right, mormon?) I'll play along.

Get's an 8.756/10 from me. Personally, it could do with some new types. Like the Int Looper, Gerst Launched, 4D, Suspended, X-Car, Compressed Air Launch, such and such, could go on forever...NoLimits is the head honcho of Virtual Coaster Design programs, but it still has much room for improvement.

Thats why they make new copies that are improved. Atleast lets hope so.

In terms of the sim experience, I'd give it a solid 9/10. I'm not sure what else you'd need there. The graphics are realistic, the camera views are more than adequate, and the sounds aren't bad.

In terms of the editor, I'd like to see a lot of improvement, most notably a way to select sections of track and de-pump them. The smoothing tool in 1.6 is a welcome addition, but it's hardly perfect.

Coaster types mentioned in previous posts would be a nice addition (esp suspended).

One last thing: the system of adding supports is pretty crappy. Working with all those nodes in free space, trying to get them to look decent, it just takes far, far too much time to do a good job there. I'd like to see some steelie auto support functions, where the program fills in supports that match the style of the track you used. B&M style supports for B&M track, Arrow style for corkscrew, etc. Of course, if you WANTED to hand-build them, you still could.

The editor gets a 6/10 from me.

Average: 7.5/10

Gerstcrazy the Intamin looper practically exists, the trains are so close...

I give NL a perfect 10 because it has the most bang for the buck I've ever seen.

In my book, NL gets a 7/10.

While many of the features on NL are high commendable there is always room for improvement. In fact the reason NL has been so great for so long has been the fact that it needs improvement. MANY of the great features added to NL were added in patches. .3ds ability, terrain, visual improvements, new coaster styles. The game looks nothing like it once did.

I give it a 7 because
A. The editor could have more features to make it more streamlined and easier to find problems with the track. (Easily modifiable pre-fabs via sliders or any real time parameter changing method to see instant results. [Think of the editor from that Disney coaster game from years back] Lets face it the accessibility of this game for people who are huge coaster nerds like ourselves is VERY low.)

B. I really hate the wind sound effects sometime. For some reason I always get thrown off thinking I should be going faster but the wind effect volume seems alot lower at times than it should be. (I think its a combination of wind/speed/element scale is probably the main cause to this)

C.The Intangibles. While NL excels at a great many things there are a few minor instances that keep NL from becoming the ultimate in terms of Full on simulation. Much of what can add heavy amounts of realism to it are somewhat inaccessible to some. Basically .3ds support. While it helped add innumerable possibilities it alienates the user base that don't have access to expensive software or the knowledge used to make good .3ds objects. All I mean by this is to at least have basic generalized themes for the stations and the environment. Stuff that slightly changes the geometry and textures of existing facets. (Think RCT3. You want a Western station it Westernafiys the current station to look like its from the old west.)

I know some of my gripes are a stretch, especially C since it has more to do with money and access than NL, but it still is present so I decided it was worth advocating.

For the record, I would love to see another coding team give a crack at making a coaster sim that directly competes with No Limits. Not because I want either to fail, but because competition between sim games helps the makers strive for perfection. And ultimately it would probably bring more players into the communities. and thats never a bad thing.

Well I'd give it 8 outy of 10. The 2 point deduction comes from the editor and the lack of being able to import mp3's into the program to make music coasters. The editor takes some getting use to and if you do not have experience with CAD editors it will be somewhat of a high learning curve for you.

Well, don't forget about the NL screensaver... You can import MP3s into that. Not sure if that's what you mean, because you can't syncronize the coaster with the music, but at least it has the music element...

or just have your favorite media playing application running in the background with music on...

I would love to have mp3 capabilities or sound triggers on the track. But I think that would cause some form of legal ramifications to attaching mp3 files and distributing them on the web.

^^^^the only problem with that is that you can still hear the sound effects of NL in the foreground, which 'cancelles out' the music.

Nolimits Ranking, hhmm. That would be a 10 from me (The Software is every bit as flexible as the person using it). So don't go and say ?????????not enough graphics????????? because that's the user?????????s responsibility. NL is a tool to create rides and seeing it in full perspective. That?????????s all that you need to create a kick ass ride.

8/10...After I retired Hyper Rails and bought NL...the transition between the two was ridiculous...I had a hard time getting used to the NL editor. It could use some more track styles and better scenery...Also an easy way to construct a custom station. Other than that, it's the best coaster sim out!

Try going into the editor, "Settings, Sound" and put the slider all the way to Min. [:O] lol.

Anyway, 7.5 out of 10. The learing curve is quite steep, and needs a few more coasters, but it is still one of the best out there.

they need more coaster types for sure!... learning curve is a little long, but i like it that way, so that boosts its score, because you never stop learning more and its always a challenge. 9.25/10

im more talking about a... you can always get better at it kinda thing, like in some video games, you may just be great right away in the first five minutes, and never be able to improve, but with no limits, theres nolimits, you can always get better at using it,

thats what i mean by it...sry for confusion

With reckognizing this topic, I realized that I would have to make my mind up as well. So I started to do some serious comparisons:

- NoLimits vs. rubberband shootouts
- NoLimits vs. german train delays
- NoLimits vs. padded sofas
- NoLimits vs. tight blue bikinis
- NoLimits vs. chocolate ice cream.

And what can I say? I'm just not yet done with my conclusions... [:P]
