SeaWorld spends annually around $70 million just on wildlife conservation and care. SeaWorld doesn't treat the animals poorly at all. Blackfish is a piss poor attempt for animal rights nuts to enforce their own agenda.
I worked at Sea World from 2001-2003 when A-B Entertainment owned the parks and the amount of time and care that the trainers and caretakers spend on these animals is quite extensive, not to mention Sea World is the largest wildlife rescue rehab education and conservation organization in the WORLD. watch the news about all the animals that have been rescued in the last 30 years, you'll be hard pressed to find a video clip or story that does NOT mention sea world, they go all over the world to help these creatures that end up in dire situations. eXXon Valdez, BP, numerous beachings of whales and seals, oh and Sea World was started by 2 frat brothers from Scripps Institute in La Jolla as the world's first true marine and aquatic wildlife education and conservation facility. Yes, it sucks to see an animal "caged" or in this case "tanked" but look at some of the famous zoological parks, they have done wonders in assisting nature to keep species alive that were endangered or on the brink of extinction. Blackfish is nothing but propaganda created by people who only see things in 1 dimension and fail to take the time to really educate themselves and think outside their little box to see that if it wasn't for parks like Sea World many of the worlds wildlife would simply vanish. Yes animals in captivity do get anxious and will sometimes attack, but, that's just their natural instincts kicking in. Do I believe that all the ways we go about things are correct, NO, and that's our nature, we're not a perfect species, but, I believe if we have the power to help others, we should, and that's what parks like Sea World and The SD zoological society do, they serve a higher purpose than just profits and entertainment, that's just the outside of who they are and helps to fund the higher purpose. I dare you to go to Sea World and not learn anything the parks main purpose is education, and has been since its inception, in fact, if it did not serve and educational purpose it would not exist. Every attraction that is built HAS to contain a learning experience, and an animal exhibit. That is MANDATED by the city of San Diego as a tern of their lease from the city, so, anyway I know many of you on here are probably in the same mind set as me, but, ever since I saw Blackfish I have had pent up frustrations and rage toward the film makers for their one sided, biased hatred towards an organization that they obviously did little to no research on, just based the film on what they see in the news or hear from other people. Please continue to support these parks as they may be our last hope for learning about and studying an ecosystem that covers more than 70% of this beautiful planet.
