We have friends who have evacuated the area already. Since my wife's whole family is from Texas they are on full alert throughout the entire region. I have friends who have been activated (National Guard) from North Texas and have been sent to San Antonio to stage there until needed. Having been to Galveston several times they have a sea wall of 14 feet (built after the disaster of early 1900s hurricane) -- the storm surge is expected to be 32 feet, do the math.

Of course, Houston is perhaps the single largest oil producing city in all of America. It's time for another $.50+ gas price climb. Fill up your car ASAP before you get burned again, because Houston has even more to do with oil production than New Orleans.

[lol] if they did change the name of Rita - Queen of Speed, then I'd have to vow not to visit the park ....... as much, I mean, I can't never visit again, maybe go 10 times a year instead of 12, I'm sure they'd miss that! It would almost cripple them financially and FORCE them to change the name back to Rita, MUAHAHAHA! [:)] Rita (the coaster), was here first! If any name changing were to be done, it would be the people who named the hurrican who would be doing it, they'd have to change the name of the storm to pay their respect to the ride, for linking it with such a bad thing, yeah ..... you know I'm the smartest one here, I think we can all see that [:D]

Actually, its now the 3rd strongest. That is insane. does anyone know what katrina was considered?

KAtrina was a category 5 on the water, when it hit, it had reduced to a category 4.

(WARNING! Adult conversation ahead -- if you do not follow politics, do not respond as you will only make a fool of yourself.)

Of course, what I am waiting for is if the hurricane turns even the slightest bit and goes after LA, the "Left" will immediately be on the radios and televisions stating as fact that the "turn of the hurricane" was solely the responsibility and fault, of President George Bush as he was acting selfishly by protecting his oil assets in Texas. [lol]

How did I know you would be the first one to not be able to read and follow instructions, thus making an ass out of yourself? Too bad you do not have the "Will this make me look stupid?" button on your keyboard. It acts just like spell check, except it attempts to minimize how many assinine comments radiate from your home.

And by the way ... wishing injury to the President of the United States is a federal offense covered under Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 41, Article 871.

Even if you think it is the "free internet", it ain't, and as I have blasted people before kiddie boy, I will not tolerate a comment like that as a United States active duty military member. If you cannot avoid such comments, then I recommend you shut your mouth. Don't triffle with me little boy, you will lose.

What does not surprise me is now you will try to defend yourself, yet if I was standing in your house telling you this you would damn well be showing some respect for your elders, so take your whipping and go home and cry on your pillow.

---> And oh ... ECG, this applies to you as well. [stupid]

Besides, what do a couple of undeveloped kiddies with barely any pubic hair to brag about care about United States Politics? Your moronic comments really demonstrate your inability to think for yourselves since neither of you is not only a) NOT on THIS continent or b) old enough to vote or c) neither of you could not even begin to comprehend what it means to run a nation. Eh, kids?

Goodbye, you have been [flush]

Please hyyyper, clean up the mess you made on the floor with the unexpected evacuation of your bladder (aka: you looked like you just pee'd all over yourself with your kiddie response), it is stinking up the joint and making the floors sticky.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway [lol], I got news from a friend of mine in Houston that Galveston is basically a ghost town now. The trip from Galveston to Houston is about 45 mins in a car -- folks are spending 8-10 hours travelling that same distance today.

hmm I vote everyone named Rita or Katrina or any other huricane re-name themselves at once....[lol] as well as the rides (way more important). But seriously, there better not be any more price gouging, I'm sick of it. Gas companies DO have legit reasons for raising prices, but stats are showing they raised it while oil prices leveled....bad gas companies....And I doubt death toll will be as bad as katrina seeing as people are evacuating and taking this thing seriously.

Well yes, it is closing, but then you can't save the coasters, and that's something you wouldn't want.

The hurricane is now a cat4 but they sad on the news that it was going to become a cat5 storm again and when it hits land it will be a cat3 so hopely there won'nt be as much damage to texas the hurricane is going to hit land and still out and dump a 1 foot of rain that is what I have herd on nbc weather plus this afternoon before I fell asleep at 200pm. When I was at the gym working out I herd that the hurricane is geting stornger again so it might be a cat5 storm agin before land fall tommorw nigth or sunday. That mens that gas prices are going to incress again it is up to $3.00 a gallon where I live for the superchared gas and the prices are just going to get higer my parts pay 50- 60 dollors for gas right now. I hope that eveyone evated and got out of the storms way it is biger then the hurricane that hit new orlans so I fell bad for everyone in texas to new orlnes new orlens is geting the rain form the storm now and they will for 3 days.

yeah, especially since people won't be able to get out because of that disasterous traffic jam.
