I do not know one clue about how you build a coaster. i haad a fun time just trying to find how to build the station. please, help me!

We've all been there at one time or another. The best way to get the hang of it is just start clicking on everything to see what it does. You can also look at some of the rides that were included with the game, or download some here, and see how they were built. There's also a pretty good help file accessible within the editor.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but it really is something that you have to dive into in order to understand it. [:)]

oh man, just remember if you want the track to go up, turn to the side-on view. I mean that took me like 5 hours to work out

that's almost identical to what i said[lol]

like said by kev, mess with the buttons, read the help screen's and load some other coaster's to see how their built and pretty soon you'll be building coaster's. I started small, dont try to make the biggest, best coaster first off, you'll have no sucess and get really frustrated. Just build a smaller coaster, learn how to make the g's not horriabule (i had trouble trying to make the drop not have red g's) master on banking you'r coasters. And DON'T rush on building your coasters. Take your time and you'll be making great coaster's in no time

I thought it was like RCT when I first got it. I could only use the add track, I didn't know I could move the *as I reffered to them* blue things. Once I read some stuff in the readme, I was doing better. But then again I didn't pay attention to G's until I got on this site. I was like "what the hell! what am I doing!?" BTW when did they start putting NL on cd's?

I usually just start messing around with things and then read the tutorial. The tutorial didn't get into detail about things but I did find out alot and planned what I wanted to build (You will see it here soon as I'm still working on it). There are a few things I want to suggest: 1. plan your coaster, it doesn't do good just to start building without a plan. 2. build the track segments first, then smooth it out. You can use the onboard 3D to help with that. (I will say, if I'm doing terriforming I'd do that before the track segments). 3. Add the trains to test timing and all. 4. Add the supports. test to see if any hit your track or can chop body parts off. 5. Add the scenery. again be sure none of it hits your riders. I've ridden many rides that slaps me in the face with a tree branch. By all means take your time. There is no rush in making a track. I've seen some that have rushed them and those tracks are terrible. Most importantly, have fun dear. ;) -Nyssa

It took me over a week to learn what a vertex was and how to add one the right way [:P]

ok, i'm getting used to building supports and adding vertexs and nodes and other stuff, but i have some problems:
1)how do you make a launch?
2)wtf is a terraformer?
3)where do you read the coaster's statistics? (neg. pos. lat. g's)
4)how do you build inversions? (i found the insert element thing, but i can't add my own, custom inversion)

1) Like LIM launch? Well, if this is what you're sporting, NL doesn't support these, BUT Tia has some launch creator thingy. If you want to know how to transform a piece of track to LIM, click your track piece, go to segment, press 'Transport'. Then, click the button that has 2 pieces of track with an arrow between them, I believe they are pink and blue. Voila! Your track piece will turn yellow and you can specify everything under 'Preferences' (right-click track piece).

2) Good question. I still don't get it. [;)] Kev might come back in here and talk about it. He's the master [:D] My advice is a tutorial. I'm pretty sure there are some out there.

3) Well, you can get some info by clicking 'Coaster' then 'Statistics', but that won't get you everything. Once again, Tia has created something that will show you all of the remaining statistics. (As much as I hate CS, and for all of the veterans here, you know I do, [devilish] here is a link to the stuff: Tia's Crap.

4) Building inversions is like anything else except you make a track piece go upside-down. You will need to be changing views a lot unless you use a prefab element. Your own custom one is like anything else...just work with the banking, sloping, and whatever else you desire for your inversion.

These are extremely vague responses and I am in NO way good at NL but someone else like any of the Staff and certain other people can really help you out. These are just my common knowledges about everything.

Hope this helps!

Disclaimer: In no offense to Tia am I calling her work crap. It has helped me and I am a very sarcastic person and I refer to anything and everything as 'crap'. Tia is talented enough to have made all of those things so do not think I portray her work as crap due to the way I worded the link. I apologize to anyone affiliated to Tia that has taken offense over that. Except CS. [}:)]

I'm hardly a master at it. I pretty much do what everybody else does with it: I point and click on stuff to see what happens. Most everything I do in the terraformer is trial and error until I get it the way I want. I do have one pointer though: Don't even think about terraforming until you've completed the track. Building a track on pre-built terrain can be tricky. You WILL want to terraform before adding supports though.

in the terraformer you have to load your track and stuff then set what stuff you want grass, water type etc. Then you have to click to botton next to the camera which will allow you to raise or lower the terrian, you can move around using the same jeys as NL. Once you done your terraforming go into tools, then filter and select how smooth you want the terain. I usualy pick soften hard

Find a nice simple coaster to recreate. Pick something your familar with, I picked Vortex at PKI and went through 4 drafts of it and took 3 weeks to get a hang of what I was doing. And the result was better than I anticipated I really learned alot even though I hadn't done anything origonal.

My first coaster was Batman Knight Flight and it stunk. But Gradually I progressed and hopefully one day if my PC ever gets fixed i can upload a coaster or if one of the admins could do it. But keep trying it'll *click* soon. And continue to fool around with those buttons.

yep, i remember that feeling. you just have to just read what the buttons do then start clicking. it may be a mess at first, but hey, it's all in fun. i made a few rides that will never see the light of day cause they were barely out of the red, supports ran into stuff all of the time, it was horrid, but i had fun and learned alot from it. make a few crap coasters just to ge4t the feel of it, then try to make a real ride. you'll get a feel for what makes the ride act certain ways, ho0w to use elements and where, the scale of them, how to make supports, and just to get those crazy, unliviable rides out of your system. HAVE FUN!!!
