i was having a problem with auto supports that i mentioned earlier. after a little experimentation i think i may have a solution...i built the track as i had planned, with most of it 100 feet above the lowest point, took the canyon drop out after saving it as an element. then i lowered the rest of the track to ground level and inserted chapel supports. then i raised the whole rest of the track back up to 100 feet or so. then i zoomed out in side veiw and selected all supports below 100 ft and deleted them.. not done yet....i saved, opened the terraformer and raised all the land to 100 feet, or about 30 metres. saved again. reopened it in the editor and added my canyon drop element, forming the canyon around it with the terraformer in the editor.... final step... i selected basic supports in the auto supports generator, unchecked clear support structure and added the supports, the over all effect wasn't perfect, but now i have wide supports that stop at ground level, since the canyon drop was the only part i wanted to hug the terrain check out backwoods devil in my tracks to see what i mean, ....i hope this helps someone else....j.........
