Any tips on making these in Sketchup? a step-by-step to get me going would be awesome, but anything would be nice.

I made some in Object Creator a while back. I could send you the file if you like them blue.

It doesn't matter what color they are, I can always change the color/texture in animator/sketchup/object creator. And that would be awesome, thanks, dude. I'll PM you my e-mail address.

you'd think that a long metal plate would be a simple 3ds model to make...

I would know. And I already have the fin 3ds that Eagles sent to me. Although I am changing the texture on the fin itself.

But none of that really hits here so it's okay.

You do know that you can delete your post, right? Instead of editing it to say "ignore this"

Boneplaya and Richie have the idea going...
I mean, here's the universal 'step-by-step' to get you going on ANY 3Ds program...

1) Hit any icon [or search drop-menus for a selection] that resembles the dialogue "new _____ [polygon, object, file]"

2) Edit the SHIIT out of that thing. Make the object into the shape that you want.

3) Make / transfer textures.

4) Export.

5) Add to NL Track.

6) Re-size / re-position.

[7...]) Make sure everything has worked the way you want it, and if not, return to step 2 and re-shape the object.

These really aren't that hard to make.. It's better to learn on something simple like a fin and add on detail as you improve your abilities.
