Hey, don't knock it - it'd take some pretty smooth planning and the mathematicians would be on overtime, but I think it could work :P

That idea has been done before if I am imagining right. The coasters are called flying coasters or flying dutchman coasters.

IntaminFan: I don't think I've ever heard of this anywhere before. The car will actually have two sets of wheels, one top and one bottom. It'd use some pretty nifty engineering to get the top and bottom wheels to engage and disengage at the appropriate time. I might have to look at making some 3DS to express this idea properly...

The idea is that the wheels will be pointing in three directions, running along the inside of each "Track". The wheels will be at the top and bottom of the train. It'd take some nifty engineering to stop the train from loosing too much speed during transitions though...

well its yeah, you cant make an invisible track! But if you wanted to make it invisible then make it camoflauged omong the ground, or an illusion rather. To kind of blurr the track from surroundins you could have the same color as the ground and add trees to add a covering, if you could call it so. This would blend in the track a little, though you would be able to see the track as you moved along. It would provide a vanishing point to the track. [8]

Ow.. an example of why I've submit this topic: the track Stealth Bomber (http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... p?tid=1008) would be 'nicer' with invisible tracks.. do you see what I mean?

Here's an idea using bobsled track:

NORMAL TRACK
????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ????????? BOBSLED TRACK|BRAKES|NORMAL TRACK

So it can just have like a 4 foot jump(maybe smaller), then land on bobsled WIDE track that is slipper just a bit under the normal track to insure a safe landing, then brakes to slow it down, then the coaster continues the course. That might be the easiest thing if the wheels would work.


EDIT:I drew a quick picture of how the track would look, only I tilted it so you can see what it looks like. Well that was my first suggestion, but after a lengthy discussion and a bit of realistic thinking - do you not thing that might be a bit too rough for the riders?

There's need to be some pretty advanced way to cushion the blow, BIG shocks, dropping the train into water, or even some completely new technical design :)

Perhaps having the actual track move would create the desired effect - have the train stop on a length of track just longer than the train is, then "drop" the track - this way we could have similar technology to that used on the drop rides (like the apocolypse at Drayton Manor) to slow the train down, before it continues on it's way...

I have a better idea, lay a carpeted conveyer belt on the bobsled track! Probably too much $$$$$$$ to have jumps though.

How about this (don't mind me, this is probably very crazy):
Extend the under-rail wheels, say a foot or two, and put a mag-lev rigging under the trains, so it "floats" off the track in a certain part, then gets set down again. It would give the illusion of flying, even though everything is controlled and guided. I don't know the viability of this idea, or the cost involved though.

Hmmmmmm. Possible.....

Having loose shocks on the wheels that're actually locked in place, then using triggers on the track and, as you say, the mag-lev to unlock the shocks and kick the train upwards...

You could be on to something there :D

I'm not sure that transparent rides are feasible. They'd cost way too much to maintain and it'd be difficult getting a material that's as strong and reliable as steel, yet transparent...

Bullet-Proof Glass! Also, I didn't know you can make rides transparent in RCT. How do you do that?

No idea, I didn't know either. lol

Glass wouldn't be feasible. Think of the weight of it, and how would you attack it to the structure? Could you GURANTEE that it wouldn't break under the stress of the trains passing over it all day long, even after 10, 15 years of service?

well the close to invisibility would be to try and camouflouge the track in with the surrounding.

what's the point of invisible track if you can't create custom trains, like Scream MAchines, where people would make like flying coasters, or star war pod racers, etc etc etc. else I don't see the point of invisible track in NL but do see the invisible track in SM due to it's more features of customization.

I'm not too keen on the camo track idea to be honest - sure, it might work for the bystanders but the riders just wouldn't be able to appreciate it :(

Like I say though - to bystanders it may appear "invisible", but to the riders they'll see exactly what it's up to [:(]

i know it in disney world they have a simulator u build a ride then ride it in a simulator build it in there and then the program would reduce the bump landing and presto your jump is in.

you could add strong fog but this would make the whole track invisible thats what I done check out my ride stealth bomber its pretty terrible but the enviroment is good
