Whats up with japan coasters that have those loud, blaring air horns at the start of the ride. They sound really annoying! Like the corkscrew coaster at Toshimaen has one and many others probably have one. Why do American coaster not have those baring horns?

Is it maybe to warn any employees in the ride area that a train is being dispatched, so that they know not to get too close to the actual track?

I know that may sound stupid, but that is the only thing that makes a little sense to me.

Of course safety should always take a back seat to what you find annoying.

If I remember right, Greezed Lightning has one of these too. Flight of Fear has a "clear track, train is launching" announcement.

Yes, at one point (AKA - The first few operating months) Kingda Ka did use a loud horn every time the train launched. But after a while, locals started complaining about the noise. So now the horn only blows on the first run of every day [;)]
