loveless is regarded as the best(o.k. maybe second best, after o.k. computer in some lists) album of the 1990s. still, "pure phase" by spiritualized is my favorit, but i love this song, and this album.. enjoy.

Every time I say something about My Bloody Valentine, I get scrutinized. Scrutinized by people who get them confused with Bullet for My Valentine or some other stupid crap like that.

If you like that, check out Polvo. They created what are IMO 3 of the top 5 albums of the 90's (Including Celebrate the New Dark Age, which with only 7 songs is a bit on the short side but is still by far and away my personal favorite album of the 90's it really is some amazing work), and were very similar to My Bloody Valentine, just a little less mainstream and more art/math rock oriented.
Id suggest checking out Fractured (Like Chandeliers), Vibracobra (Possibly the most melancholic song ever made), Every Holy Shroud, Thermal Treasure, and Action vs. Vibe.

I should mention now that while they are similar to MBV with the extensive distortion and moving guitar playing they definitely have a tad bit less refinement and their music is at times so complex it can come across as just a mess of sound. Thats my disclaimer.

there were alot of bands like them here in san diego around that time.
