Yeah, this is what really interests me. They're certainly pushing the boat out yet again - I just hope they're working within their capabilities!
I'm pretty certain it is only possible due to the way Gerstlauer lifts work, whereby the chain-dog so to speak is actually located on the chain itself and pushes the train up the lift as opposed to a chain dog being on the train. My guess would be the dogs, at certain positions on the chain, can retract, or, they vary in height and an indentation of the chain trough allows the smaller dog to release the train, and a taller dog further down the chain can re-engage and continue to push the train over, and past the indentation. Know I think about it, it's much harder to explain than I though.
