I live close to KI and the local news keeps showing b-rolls of Gatekeeper, so I'm guessing it's gonna be a wing rider.

The city planning birds-eye layout so does NOT suggest a Wing Coaster.

That is true, though. If its gonna be record-breaking, Cedar Fair probably doesn't wanna take that title away from gatekeeper.

World's Longest Inverted Roller Coaster!

The world's longest inverted roller coaster, "Banshee," opens in April of 2014 at Kings Island. The first female-inspired thrill ride at a Cedar Fair Entertainment amusement park, Banshee will send riders screaming through 4124.1 feet of track and seven mind-bending inversions at speeds up to 68 miles per hour!

The ride layout is specially designed for Kings Island. Elements will include Curved Drop, Dive Loop, Looping interacting with the lift, Zero-G-Roll, Batwing, Outside Loop, Spiral, In-Line-Roll, and Carousel.

so its the worlrds longest yet lacks a mcbr, it seems like B&M is starting to stray from mcbrs completly. Most newer rides that have them are usually more towrds the end then middle

Take a look at the new restraints! (Or just stolen from wingriders)

I'm impressed with this layout. Looks fun and way more intense than anything B&M has done recently. On top of that, this track is magenta which means the blue track in Ohio is going somewhere else!

I'm glad Cedar Fair didn't go with blue track this time.
I am loving the color scheme, and the layout looks so different from the typical B&M invert after the zero G roll. How fitting they should choose the name Banshee after Son of Beast "died." Way more fitting than D*****er of Beast.
I just HAVE to make it to Kings Island next year.

I think it's really awesome. I love the color scheme so much. It's really cool that it doesn't have an MCBR, it's really becoming unnecessary. The ride itself isn't that long, so I assume there'll be a train pulling into the brake run as another is about midway up the lift hill. Maybe there will be an exit station and an entry station so that every train is doing something instead of having the second one stacked all the time just by design. The Zero G Roll is cool, and unconventional. It seems longer, like a wingrider's. And the elevation change after the zero g is so awesome, it dives down sooo far into the landscape! And I can't get over the fact that they put a barrel roll/inline on an invert. It's going to be so fun, that was my favorite part of X Flight. I praise KI and B&M on their efforts!

Cool how the world's longest invert doesn't even have an MCBR. Although I'm not a big fan of how it's inversion after inversion after inversion, looks like it will be a great ride, especially with the speed it looks like it will be having. It'll be interesting to see how the barrel roll rides on a B&M invert.

I'm honestly not that impressed. There is not a SINGLE "small" element on this coaster. Every single one of the inversions is about speed and height. There are bound to be some decent g-forces in the first couple of inversions, but the rest of the ride just doesn't have that quick "snap" that makes inverted coasters really fun IMO. There's no corkscrews, none of those quick ground-hugging turns that melt your face with positive G's, almost no quick left-to-right transitions...

If we're going to nitpick... look at the shaping of the 0-g roll and the shaping on the batwing. The 0-g roll is one of those long drawn-out ones that are more like floating rather than the quick whip that makes them really fun. And the batwing, just compare that damned thing to the one on Montu. It just looks SO damned big, and the entrance and the exit are shaped to be long and drawn-out rather than having the "whip" that makes such an inversion fun, or the intense positive-g's at the bottom. Honestly, to my eyes, the only part I see that really looks interesting is the drop. That drop looks pretty freaking sweet.

I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing what anyone else is seeing. All I see is a coaster that lacks any sort of intense pacing or sequencing, and is just one big inversion after the other. It'll still be fun, but we're definitely not looking at top-20 coaster material here. I'm pretty disappointed.

^it probably wont be as fun as it would be with the roomy restraints on the old trains.

Thats my only complaint with this.. I sure hope those vests stay loose. I can imagine how amazing the back row will be on the first drop, just look at the offride; there will definately be an awesome combination of airtime and lats. Its hard for me to be excited for the airtime though with these stupid vests.

^ I don't mind the vests on X-Flight. The trains were probably something they had to consider when designing this. Those snappy transitions on older inverts probably wouldn't have the same effect with these tighter fir restraints. I think hangtime is going to be huge on this one.

I'm trying to create a similar drop in Newton and I can't even get close!

I dislike the vests; they dig into your shoulders badly. And get really tight. And for as much experience as B&M has had with these new restraints now, I'm astounded that they weren't improved. I mean jeez, just make the shoulder straps angled at 5 degrees to cup the person's shoulder, instead of the inner side digging into their collar bone. CJD I definitely get what you're saying, it's suuuuper long and drawn out, everything is. The helix might have good positives. But B&M is apparently really trying to uphold their "comfortable ride experience" standard that they're becoming so famous for, so they're consistently weakening their rides. This one probably won't have any whip, because the general public complains about headbanging on other inverts, which detracts from comfort. I'm guessing that's why there are no traditional corkscrews either, or a cobra roll, an element which IMO provides for the most intense whip on an invert. On a similar note, their latest hypers pale in comparison to Raging Bull and Nitro (can't speak for Apollo's Chariot though I've heard good things), I guess weaker airtime provides for more comfort. Regardless, I'm super excited for this, as it's relatively close to me and it's a long ride and the pacing looks good because there's no MCBR and it just continues to gain speed with the elevation changes.

I don't think the turn into the lift is supposed to be at a perfect right angle. Pretty sure the real thing is more of an acute angle.
