Anyone hear about this? A bunch of engineers from the two Vekoma firms left and formed a new company called KumbaK. They're making the "Vliegende Hollander" (Flying Dutchman) at Efteling. I think their first coaster looks pretty cool. Its interesting how they managed to get all that electrical stuff underwater and have a chain pull the car through the water on a turn back to the station. I didn't know that kind of chain could turn 90 degrees.

Anyway, its opening in 2007. Here are some pics.

I don't mean to spoil it for ya'll, but we already have a large topic about this ride with links to videos and such...and the reasons behind the delayed opening.

The two mistakes you mentioned here, are nobody's faults but Efteling's. I assume that the only Kumbak restraint you've got experience with is the one on Python? Those trains are designed by Efteling, Kumbak just produced them.
Coasters that open one year to late? Another mistake by Efteling; Kumbak designed, Efteling produced.. WTF? Efteling ordered every piece of the coaster at another firm, so it's their fault that the Flying Dutchman is crap (atm).

It's just sad that Kumbak are being blamed for Efteling's mistakes by those "coaster genius'"

You get a chain to go round a curve but putting it on it's side, doesn't ake a genious to work out. The have one on the turn into the station on Oblivion and also around the top corner of the ride. Alot more reliable and safer than the transport wheels

well, the problem is the hooking on the lifthill. Before thelift you dip down 6 meter. At a speed of 33 KM/h at the bottom. Then you go up the lift and you should hook on with 10 KM/h. For some strange reason the hooking onto the lift is very rough. The whole ride is finished, the lift is the only problem. They can't change the whole lift because its part of the darkride. As far as we know its going to be one of the most hightech darkrides ever.

I dunno it seems like since its got the water... scoop things on it that that'll slow it down a bit along with the mag brakes, I think it'll catch pretty soon.
