I enjoyed Log Jammer more than half the coasters there last time I went.

You guys really shouldn't stoop as low as the MiceChatters who whined that they were taking out a classic waterfall at the Disneyland Hotel, get a grip. I am for everything that Freddie said.

Except when it applies to you.

Six Flags has quite a bit of advanced milling machinery, including both three axis and four axis auto mills available. The problem is not that parts cannot be made, but that there is a lack of qualified professionals to operate them. Yet, even if one park didn't have the necessary tools to make something, it could always be ordered from another park in the chain, outsourced to a local shop, or handed over to one of the many engineering groups they have and shipped out accordingly.

Further, obtaining parts for a log flume is not difficult. Frankly you can keep a log flume in service as long as you have a tractor supply and an auto parts store near by. The most expensive part on them is the conveyor belts, rollers, and the pumps.

In 2006 Six Flags Over Texas shutdown one of its log flumes (Flume 1) for an entire season to rebuild a good portion of it. It got major repairs to the trough, structure, and most importantly a proper conveyor deck and catwalk for high lift, made of grated galvanized steel. Over $100K in upgrades, yet in that time the ride only operates less then 30 days out of each year and only during the summer season. The rest of the time it operates unloaded with the pumps turned on as a water feature.

Why? Flume 2 is much smaller then Flume 1, it cost less to run and can cycle just as many boats. In the case of SFMM, there are redundant facilities in place for a log flume style ride. Log Jammer and Jet Stream. While it is true that Jet Stream is a toboggan style flume ride it should be said that there are a fare less amount of those around then the traditional log flume. The minute differences in the two systems make one redundant, and it would there would be far worse repercussions if it was Jet Stream.

Six Flags took a beating the last five years, only in the last two has it recovered to an extent that it can fight back. Let us not forget we are still at war, and Cedar Fair must die.

poop, I'm agreeing with Coasterkid again....

I can imagine how much better Michigan's Adventure would be without Cedar Fair. They can't take care of woodies for poop. But it's so pretty!

Now that I think about it, a "contest" on Planetsix is suddenly starting to make sense. A few months ago, Ryan, the one who started Planet Six, posted the possibility of a launched coaster pretty much following the layout of the Metro monorail. I was thinking, how is this possible? None of the old stations are really long enough for an effective launch segment; however, if log jammer is removed, then they could use the old samurai summit station as the station for the coaster and utilize the wide area that log jammer currently occupies between samurai summit and superman EFK. That would actually make for a pretty bad-ass launch coaster. Anyway, if anyone cares to check out what I am referring to, follow this link: http://planetsix.weebly.com/blog.html

i still would love a coaster contest on this
but it should be one where you can choose between wood or steel and launched or lift, etc

Well, I just got my pass 4 weeks ago, went to Six Flags to ride Deja Vu before it closed, and the last two times I went I went on Log Jammer 5 times because of the little to no wait it had. Now hearing that it might leave sucks, but I am lucky to have gotten my last few rides on it!

Whatever they do though I can't help but accept. I mean, I can't do nofin 'bout it, yo. One can just hope for a new ride of equal or greater fun/excitement/charm/whatever.
