Maybe I should just forget about the 360 and PS3

Have any of you seen the screens for CRYSIS? I'm deeply considering just never getting a console and sticking to the PC.
I mean look at what this games new engine will be able to support.

And apparantly the game is far to advanced to run on the current consoles without parts of the engine being stripped down to accomodate for the consoles' short comings, so to speak. So I dunno....

Of course its being striped down for the consoles. They run on the Direct X 9 architecture while the game runs on Direct X 10. PC's overpowered the PS3 BEFORE it came out and the 360 about 6 months after it came out.

While I am excited about Crysis its not the tip of the iceberg for me when it comes to what DX10 will offer. Its just right now there are no released games for it. It won't be another year or 2 before it really starts hitting its stride. Part of that is the changes consumers have to make to get there. A new video card is required. Of which 3 main types are out at the moment with the prices ranging from 300 to 500+. Also Vista is a requirement which many hardcore gamers who dont want to change will wait till a must have game comes out to place on their systems. Its going to take a major established franchise to make the switch over to get tons of users to also make the switch. DX10 awesomeness will really start hitting in the fall, when developers adapt to the new technology and begin patching it to existing games. Supreme Commander and Flight Sim X are both supposed to get DX10 updates that are sure to not disappoint.

Its also going to take a while for DX9 to fully die out. Its still flexing its muscle with games like Quake Wars coming out.
