gouldy, consider that something as similarly shaped as Apollo's Chariot's drop is significantly more exciting than Giovanola's hypercoaster, and it's 45 feet shorter. Had Giovanola designed their drop with slightly more curvature, the small duration of floater airtime the back row experiences near the top of the drop could be distributed along the whole drop, instead of gently placing riders back into their seats 2/3 of the way up. That feature makes the drop feel much more safe than it could...even without doing some ridiculously steep slope. The top of that drop in the back row is somewhat fun, but the fun decreases until the pullout where you really start to feel the speed. Also note that Giovanola is not afraid of airtime; the camelback on that design is easily one of the best hills I've ridden. Because of the mix of airtime and speed, it ranks near the best of El Toro and SROS SFNE for me.

Giovanola may have achieved what they desired, however that doesn't mean I don't feel the drop is much more 'lame' than it could be with similar shaping. Note that Silver Bullet was designed exactly as B&M intended, and it has some speed near the bottom, smoothness throughout, decent height, and drop time, yet it was consistently brought up as one of the most lame drops. Now I don't think Silver Bullet's drop compares to Titan's, but that's not because either wasn't designed as intended.

btw, I would appreciate it if you didn't call one of my posts dumb just because you disagree. That's not cool.

Steel Force, and I'm sure the other similar Morgan hyper drops. Weakkk. A ride 8 years younger than Magnum with almost the same (now) mediocre drop? C'mon.

How dare you use my fave coaster's name in vain!!!

Also, I dont think there is such thing as a lame first drop. Depending on your taste in coasters, there all good

Millennium Force!

Seriously Though, I have to say that Mean Streak's First Drop was LAME! If Cedar Fair Could let up on the trims, (Doubtfull), It would probably be a boatload of fun!

Yeah but this is all opinions, fraroc. Plus, most of the drops I've said are "lame" are only so in a relative sense...meaning relative to what they could be, they're pretty lame.

I really didn't find Silver Bullet's drop all that boring...Certainly not as crazy as many other inverts I've been on, but still fun IMO.

I'm gonna have to go with Montu for lame drop. Sorry, but everything about that ride is just so tame to me. Drop did nothing for me, I dunno why everyone raves about that ride so much.

i almost feel bad saying it but honestly i was disappointed with Great Bear's drop, it looks tight but its not really that cool when your on it, its like the helix is a waste of time and height that could have been spent on a steeper or more exciting drop

i kind've understand that the drop isn't the tightest of all the inverts, but it still gives you a nice sensation, as you've already got some speed and it swings you around and down. And personally, i think the beginning helix is just as good, or even better than the first drop. It's a tight circle and gives you some big G's before you even plummit down the first big drop.

I'll go with the first drop on Manhattan Express at New York, New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The coaster tops out at 203 feet, yet the first drop must be about 100 feet, isn't steep, and goes right into a straight portion of track that's not even close to the ground. And it's a Togo, so you get knocked around even during the parts when you're not supposed to!

Yea, agreed

Actually, I disagree. I admit that it LOOKS boring, but it actually delivers quite a bit of floater air in the back seat. I was surprised. Granted, Steel Force isn't my #1 steel coaster, but it is still quite fun.

Believe it or not, SheiKra was not that great IMO. Kinda fun, but to be honest, not that forceful and a bit of a dissapointment.

I'm actually a huge fan of Magnum's drop, especially from the back car.

But for the worst drop on a substantial roller coaster? SROS at SFNE. Straight section. Nuff said.

I love that drop. In the back and middle you get a kick up onto you harness and then remain there floating in a steep strait with just plain old excelleration. And that drop is much steeper than in the pictures too.

Why not complain about dive machines having a strait then? Supermans drop feels alot like one because of the strait. You know, that that sudden tug into the strait that sends you flying.

Mean Streak. Huge drop, but then you hit TWO freaking sets of trim brakes, each substantially lowering the speed of the train while it's going over the edge, and the drop is only sloped at 52 degrees anyway, so even without them it would still be a "meh" kind of drop. LAME! The former world's biggest wood coaster deserves a hell of a lot better than crap like that. There are coasters half its size with steeper drops.

52* is pretty steep for a wood coaster. Legend's is 52 and it has a hell of a pop of air in the back seat so....

I don't like Steel Force's drop too much because it starts curving when already going down at like -20*, then hits that flat real soon after so there isn't a long period of airtime. The retracting seatbelts don't help either. Then, in the front, you can't hardly see over the hood (and I'm tall) so the drop there is even worse than it would be otherwise.

Mean Streak's drop is lame, as is Texas Giant's, which is almost the same with the trims, just a lil shorter with a curve at the top.

Kyle, you don't actually float on SROS' flat section. There's about .3 g's there, meaning you'll be touching the seat soon after the track straightens out. It's an alright drop, better than some its size but no, not up to potential. Dive machines, on the other hand, are different...their drops are around 90*, so a straight section would mean you'd be floating, as opposed to the normal force you experience at 71* on SROS. Also, I don't think Dive Machines ever actually straighten out completely, which makes sense since it's falling on close to a parabolic trajectory.

Cyclops' first drop has amazing airtime! Were you in the back, or just front?

Yeah, seriously. Everyone raves about the last drop but the first two are amazing as well, with more air than most coasters have. That ride is just so crazy.

In fact, the second drop is probably my favorite. 30 ft. tall max, and somehow sustains great air for what seems like forever.

circask8r has a point with great bear...mayb it is cuz i rode it in the front...i was really excited to ride GB...but after the helix i was dissapointed cuz it was boring and the drop was nothing special.

As for steel force...i have ridden it about 200 times and about twice in the front...and i don't like the drop in the front...but anywhere in the back car throws you way out of your seat...steel force has one of the more fun drops IMO if you sit in the right spot.

Meh even in the back I found Steel Force's drop weak because of the short duration of airtime and other things I mentioned earlier. Nitro's drop is a similar size, but 100X better, and Apollo's Chariot's drop is just in a completely different league.

Heres a hint for a better drop on steel force...take ur seat belt off hahahaha XD...i bet that would be alot more fun without retracting belts.

Mean Streak's. Not the least bit fun due to trims.

Nitro and Apollp's Chariots drops are a lot better than steel forces but there is no way that steel force has the lamest drop. NO WAY!
