The Beast @ PKI. however, it does utilize the terrain very well to pick up speed after the first drop.

Beast...seriously?

Em, I think that is one of the more "rough-and-rickety" drops that kind of makes it legendary.

Bad choice in my opinion.

Oh to the un-buckling of the seat belt quips:

It would be your last pop of airtime as well, well, actually there would be another pop, your neck. If it is a bobsled, then there might be a couple of pops, and some splats as the train runs over your body on the lower level of track. Insert

TMI...

have you tried Rolling thunder at SFGA in NJ, It sits next to El Toro and its pretty lame everywhere,Despite this ,it is a good graduation coaster for those intimated by the parks famous trio(el toro, nitro and kinga ka).

Steel force does have a pretty boring first drop but the drop after the mcbr makes up for it I think
What are these for?

For me, Son of Beast. I think it's really bleh. It should definitely be soooo much better, but sadly it isn't.

I always thought that the drop on Hypersonic was a dud. The drop is only about half as tall as the ride up. I had always wished it was the other way around... shorter ride up and longer down.

This is a less-known coaster, but Wolverine Wildcat at Michigan's Adventure has about the least-steep 1st drop in the world. It needs to be steeper, but the fact that it goes within inches of the park's central lake makes it a little cooler.

Superman:SROS in the back seat.

Just kidding.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

Amen to that.

After the train gains momentum from the predrop, the drop just kicks you out of your seat going over the edge, floating all the way down to the bottom.

Edit: Referencing Apollo's Chariot.

Top Thrill Dragster. Only because the end of the first drop marks the end of the ride.

Why do think it's called "Child Coaster"?
Sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little bit of yourself to get the job done.

Really? I thought Shockwave's drop was really good, there was a really nice pop of airtime in the back row.

The Gwazis don't have amazing first drop. But the rest of the layout does more than make up for it.

Steel Force, and I'm sure the other similar Morgan hyper drops. Weakkk. A ride 8 years younger than Magnum with almost the same (now) mediocre drop? C'mon.

Titan and Goliath are lucky that the speed, height, drop time, and smoothness makes them more exciting than they would be otherwise, because they're not the best designed drops either.

What?????
The drop on Steel Force is better than Hydra!!

I think the only way Steel Force's drop is better than Hydra's is because the restraints are less restricting on SF. Hydra's duration of airtime is probably around the same, the slope the same or steeper, and the magnitude of airtime forces higher.

But my comparison wasn't so much to a smaller ride like Hydra...it was to rides of the same height range. Ever been on Apollo's Chariot, Raging Bull, Nitro, and even to a lesser extent one of the SROS'? Infinitely better drops with around the same height, whereas Steel Force is 10 years newer than Magnum, and the drops are very similar...aka relatively weak. Magnum's I'm sure was amazing back then, but nowadays it's not as exciting as many hypercoasters, IMO, and understandably. I'd expect more improvements than what I've seen though, after 10 years.

There are several features of that drop that make it less exciting than it might be otherwise. The lift apex is slow, the radius flattens around -30*, which takes away 30* of airtime...the radius of the drop is large enough that, when I last rode less than a year ago, I didn't actually come out of my seat in the back row. The seatbelt doesn't help with such weak forces either, expecially since it's springloaded. If all that isn't enough, the drop isn't all that steep because of that big flat section midway through. Yeah, much of this is relative to similar sized rides, but much of what I said doesn't stack up to any decent sized coaster first drop.

I SORT OF have to go with Great American Scream Machine at SFGAdv because the second you leave the lift, the headbanging begins....
Because for the occasion that you are pretty.

Nemesis at Alton Towers I would say , it doesn't even have a first drop to be honest.

The first drop on Nemesis is truly pwnsome! False sense of security, that's all I'll say.
