On saturday i had an ace event that brought me to sfgadv and i had great time. This is how the day went:

I checked in and entered into the park at 10:30 and met up with my ace friend. You can guess that we headed straight to el toro for a first ride. I wasnt ever more excited to ride a coaster in my life. I got the back row. And rode twice. My opinion-

This was THE most phenominal, intense coaster i had ever ridden. The first drop is better than Milleniums. You get airtime on it even in the front row. IN THE BACK, THERE IS ATLEAST -1 GS BEFORE YOU PULL OUT!!!! The next two airtime hills had CRAZY ejector, And the turn around was extremely forceful. I liked how it got all relaxing all the sudden with the small floater hills, then you swerve by the first drop. BAM! There is this hill that has ejector that was beyond what i though possible with wood. Then the mess of s-curves/hills is full of force and lats and is very out of controll feeling. The ride was great finish to end. And i LOVED the restraints. I rode it 20 something times after it rained that night before ERT. My legs didn't have the least bit of soreness. It was great. Not a single complaint.

Then we went to Kingda Ka and got it before it had a line. It sucked. We went on to Skull Mountain afterwards which also had no line. So we rode in the back row. It was actually extremely fun, and had alot of lats. And it was dark so i was like "what is going on!" We continued on to the area with Batman the dark Knight. It was fun. But not fun enough to be worth the wait. I did nitro next. It was definately my favorite B&M. I loved it completely. I rode it atleast 6 times that day. It has a great first drop and good airtime. What was weird was the end. I loved how they had hills that were turning to the side. It looked more like something CCI would do, Not b&m. I thought it was really funny, and it was actually really fun.

Watch after the mid brake. Its realy cool. And it is unique to me, and will probably never be seen on a b&m again. [:(]

I rode batman next. It was fun, but not great. After that we had lunch and the raffle drawing, did some flat rides and the mine ride, which was really fun in the back. Then i did rolling thunder second to back in the rain a couple times. In knew what to expect because i had ridden it earlier, i cant remember when. I think after the mine ride. Anyways it was reeeaaaly fun and i couldnt see what was going on because it was dark, and the rain would get in my eyes when i opened them. Finally once it was ert, i rode el toro a bunch and i did go ride Bizzaro a couple times. It was fun, and the effects were really cool compared to the ones on Sfne's one. It was cool having fire as you come down from the dive loop, and the weird thing in the corcscrew is freaky. But what was anoying, again, was the incredibly loud sound track.

The only ones missed were GASM, and superman which was not running. It was alot of fun.

Mine ride-1
Rolling Thunder-3
Bizzaro-2
El toro-23
Kingda Ka-1
Batman Dark Knight-1
Batman the ride-1
Nitro-5

I really wouldnt think it would be hard to have a first drop better than Milleniums...I dont think the G's, even in the back are anything to write home about especially because they are so drawn out. Might as well give me a quick jolt of floater.

Oh, and just remember, because this is more or less a hybrid woodie (made of wood, designed exactly like a steel)

the other way they get away with it is the laser cut wood that is multi-layered and the grain of the wood runs in several directions. A regular woodies tracks are made with wood laid on top of each other and the grain running all in the same direction, typically running the length of the board. This makes the board flex but also doesnt offer optimal resistance to high pressures. Quartersawn wood would give you this, but last time my father had to order some it was 2-4 times more expensive than normal sawn.

So when you combine the way the wood is laminated, alternating grain, laser cut and then designed just like a steel to spec (combined with WAY lighter trains and I think polyurethane coated wheels) you have basically a steel coaster disguised as a woodie. But really, the grain thing is brilliant. I knew that but never thought to apply it to a coaster. I heard Corey from The Gravity Group explaining Intamins process and how simple but effective it is. And how it lets Intamin basically create a steel coaster (his words!) made of wood.

Funny, considering there's infinitely more steel in each of GG's 3 steel structured wooden coasters than there is in every Intamin prefab coaster in the world, put together. :P
