actually Edge it wont be as easy as people think it will be. look at this picture. It seems like you will have to be very knowledgable on maths and formulas and all that crap.

it doesn't look hard at all...actually, it looks as though the program does a lot of the mathematical work, such as formulas and calculations, for you. of course, i say this as someone who is mathematically inclined. looks like a very nice program; can't wait! [pshades]

why do peopele have a problem with tools that help you build better coasters!(The Edge)
in fact what is your problem full stop if people want to use these tools then fair enough
if they don't then thats ok as well! you obviously see yourself as some superior coaster builder
then that good but not everybody can can
I always make my owen prefabs then use them in my own coasters so is that cheating,
I don't think so! Live and let live! and stop being such an arse!

Well actualy i never stated in this thread i had a problem with them. I was simply questioning why there wasnt a tool to build you own landscape, which Sir Dirk Ermen informed me there was....

Matt, do actually try and find out information before you open your mouth and start spewing nonsense?

From the Gravimetric Studios web site:

"Work continues on the all new NoLimits Elementry program. Elementry is an element creation tool featuring an easy to use interface as well as Wizard's for standard elements. This will make Elementry super easy for everyone to use (No degree in rocket science required)! The interface also features direct access to the mathmatical formula potter that is used to create the Elements. This will allow for those Rocket Scientists out there to create any mathmatically perfect element. Wizard's are data files to allow anybody to create their own wizards for new elements. "

To be honest i think all these tools are for the laziest people in the world who cant be asked to put in a ounce of effort into their coasters. If i dont use the tools i feel more proud that i have done a better job than a tool.

I agree Gouldy, I will use the tool to LEARN how to build some of these elements myself, not just use the program to do it for me. To be truthful though, this will restrict alot of building of entrances/exits to elements, as I believe it has a set pattern to create the element. If Tia could put in something to mark which coasters have used these elements that would be great, as nobody will be honest about how they created their elements.

Ok, so you have a screw that needs to be tightened, and you have a screwdriver nearby, but you choose to try doing it by hand because "There's no skill in using the right tool"

Well heck, take it a step further. Why Do You have NoLimits at all. I mean, the program just makes creating virtual coasters too easy. You should program your own instead. But that still is not any good. ALl youhave done now is reinvent the screwdriver that you did not want to use in the first place. We could keep going back a step, but in reality, you will ALWAYS be using "tools" that others have created that have been designed to make what you are tying to do (no matter what that is) easier.

It is just a tool. It enhances the ability to do one thing. This same debate happened when the track smoother came out, and everyone was in a huff about that. All the track tools in the world will still not create that ultra-interesting and thrill filled layout for you.

So may times people have wished for better tools to make things easier, and then when you get them, you complain about them because you think that overnight, bad coaster makers will become great ones.

Great designers will just become greater, bad coaster designers will still be bad, no matter what.

Very well said, RCFlyer. I've enjoyed all of the tools that Tia and Buster have released so far. If this new one makes it easier for me to enjoy NL even more, then I'm all for it.

I am not trying to downgrade the importance of good building skills, which is why I have not uploaded any rides, I am still learning and learning and learning. Trying to make things smaooth as possible and get things just like I want them. I have read a loto f comments and most of them are not something that I want said about anything I upload.

Think of it this way... You have a Ford Focus. You drive it all the time and you get really good at it. Soon, you are king of the road. You are the Master of the highways and biways, there is nothing you can not do in a ford focus. You drive faster and corner better than anyone on the road.

Now imagine someone just handed you the keys to an Saleen S7 ( http://www.saleen.com/auto/S7/s7.htm )

If you can not drive, the car won't matter.

[lol] I like your screwdriver example RCFlyer. However i would say that the addons are more like an electric screwdriver, the screwdriver being the user in the first place. The normal screwdriver works just fine and there is nothing that can go wrong with it. However the eletric screwdriver is then released. This of course makes the job alot easier and quicker, but it takes away the satisfaction of doing it by hand. Also things can go wrong with the electric screwdriver, such as the tracksmoother make not work on some tracks to well etc. But i do fully agree with your point RCFlyer
