I was told that along with getting its new paintjob, Ninja ould (or had by now) recieve an upgrade to the trains that would allow for a smoother ride. Last time i went, Ninja was not yet open so i could not check this out myself. I'm not sure when the next time i will go will be, but does anyone have any details or a confirmation that this has happened?
I have not heard anything about it yet. If this is the case, to bad this sort of thing didnt come around untill after shockwave at great america had been dismantaled
^nor does it sound very possible. 3/4 of an inch? thats really thick. that would mean that the track is that much thicker all the way aorund and the wheels would not even fit around the track. unless they widen the distance between wheels which if that is what they can do they might as well shorten the distance, therefore allowing the wheels to grip better, and save thousnads of dollars to not paint it.
The paintjob has been done for a while and it opened back up in mid-April. No new trains, no improvements except the paintjob. It is just as rough as it was, and now that people have figured out that it isn't anything new and hasn't been upgraded, the lines are back down to nothing. It does look great though. So if you go, don't count on it being any smoother, because it isn't. I still like it though.
thightening up the wheels will cause more friction and the train won't make it back, a smooth vekoma is (for now) only kumali and motorbikes, but who says a coaster has to be smooth to be fun eh?
Totally agree.
I went on The Grand National with a dislocated shoulder. And it nearly poppoed out, and awfully. IT WAS FUN[:D].
I dont see what the big deal is about Vekoma's. I have been on 5 SLC's. 2 of them custom, and 3 standard's. And not one was rough. Not forgetting a Vekoma looper - Millenium Coaster which is very smooth in-deed.
Massive exeptions to both Vekoma Boomers i have been on, they did hurt. Like F**k.
So thats 6 out of 8 Vekoma's that arnt rough. Not all that bad ya'know.
i'm not complaining about ninja. i love how other people won't ride because of a few bumps. that means no line and more rides for me. but i was just told that by someone at six flags. whatever, it still looks awesome now. and the black supports darken the whole ride area and make beautiful reflections, adding to the ride experience
actually, they already finished the paint a while back, it was still drying when i went last, golaith opening weekend. and there is a picture of the new paint on rcdb with a train on the lift, so i suppose its finished now.
Of all the rides at SFOG, I seriously hate that one. It is just plain painful and worse than Windjammer ... And when a 6', 230 lb guy says it is painful ...
Plus, even if they did get new wheel assemblies for it the less than spectacular track work would still cause the same jerks, bumps, rattles and shakes.
