Hm. You guys will make someone feel very bad about themselves one of these days. So gazag does not practice the best use of grammar, so be it. Criticize him on the things pertaining to this topic, the tournament. Fine if you blow him out for throwing a quite disoriented template at us, but when you make fun of someone for something personal and clearly can't be helped, that is very low and cold.

But the way he presents himself is very important to the contest. It sets the tone for the competition and discussion, and is unprofessional especially for such a big contest.

Things like that can be helped. Peer editing, spell checker, grammatic, dictionary.com, anything like that. If you make a post as important as the first post in a giant contest, you should have the pride to present yourself how you want others to view you.

Why didn't he send to wws, coolbeans, or someone else for review? There are so many solutions. If you're going to do something, do it right.

Gazag is what, early 30's? He should know better than his grammar shows. I look back over my things to make sure I don't make myself look like an idiot with every single post. I slip up every once in a while, but there is a thing called the edit button. The template is far from disorienting. I could make an arrow coaster in the station box alone. I'm sure Whirlwind will fit just fine. Possibly even Ninja.

This is the annual tournament representing the site and it's finest builders. Frankly, it is embarrasing to see this happen here. So it may offend somebody. Who gives a damn. The entire site has been represented with a n00b track and 3rd grade grammar.

^he's 21, btw.

But, for the record, I would like to note that Gazag has done a fine job in doing what he was originally put on staff to do.[:)]

As for this contest, I would definately like to improve the integrity of this contest.

I never criticized his duties here at the site. Only his ability to run this contest professionally. I think many of us have come to the same concensus, those who have spoken up anyway.

Sadly, I have to agree. Just look at the quality of last year's templates. Gazag is a funny guy, and does his job well, but I don't feel this contest is fit for him. Although cjd took forever to rate, lol, his competitions were organized very well IMO and the templates and rules were "perfessionalish." If I do submit a track, expect it to be fantasy...

You all make good points. Gazag is a cool guy, and so he has problems with speech, but if you're going to tell him that don't say it by "we're being represented by a n00b track and 3D grade grammar..." It's not fun when you're getting made fun of, all though I can't really disagree with any of you.

Gazag, for round two might I suggest (should terrain come in to play) find another member or authority capable of presenting a smooth and well formatted environment. That's all I have to say.

Despite the issues, there just is still a drive to compete in me. Good luck everyone!

Oh boy, this is getting out of hand, gazag, for round 2, I suggest you work in tandum with coolbeans326. This is what separates us from the rest of the sites, our world known Tournament. So yeah, let's keep it professional. Also this goes for the members. Now back to the topic on hand, seems, all your questions are answered so let's get cracking, i have yet to dl the template [:)]

Owned.

And now, all of you, stop fussing and complaining. The contest is fine, Gazag is fine, it's only the first round for god's sake. Stop pointing out things and just go work on your coaster. Also, he did say, many times, that this is an easy start. Stop gloating that you could make one within the mere station box, of fit an existing one in there. Nobody cares. Use the template given, and stop you're yipyapping.

Speaking of getting cracking... I actually got a little bit done when I got bored of practicing multivariant calculus that I already know ;), and I've been trying to recreate that classic Arrow feel! I'll finish it tomorrow lol:

Building classic arrow is actually quite difficult I think. So far most of what I have done is alot more Intamin or B&M inspired than Arrow. Arrow is tough to master because you strive for originality but many of their coasters are highly simple.

my theory:

f*** authenticity. I'm not making a coaster suck technically on purpose, even if it costs me points. I'm making a smooth coaster, and one with very non-traditional elements. If it isn't authentic, so be it. It's fun to think of what corkscrew coasters could have been like...

In other news, I was messing around with Elementary and the FVD, but the results have been less than appealing so far. I couldn't even make a vertical loop, for God's sake. I got the shape, but couldn't figure out how to spread the entry and exit tracks apart. Then after trying to program in an original element, I just gave up and went back to hand-building. (This is the last time I complain about Elementary being "the easy way out"...)

I agree...all that resembles arrow or vekoma on my ride is the track type [:p]. Hence the reasoning that it's a fantasy coaster. Gazag never said it had to be in arrow or vekoma style!

Exactly. It was clearly stated that we can build whatever we want, as long as we use the Corkscrewcoaster and stay within the gigantic template.

you can give the template a go mate but you didnt enter your name in the contest and all 64 places are filled, this means your coaster will not be judged in the contest

I don't see the point if limiting the number of places in this round, since only the 32 best will proceed anyway. And not all 64 contestants will submit a track either, so I don't see why you don't let the three last people join.
