So after trying a failing to make coasters on NL, I was wondering if anyone can give me tips on hand building. I can never get the track what i want it to do, and it kinks so bad. Any tips? I feel bad no contributing to the community.

my technique: just build a element en AND make it smooth... and tweak it until it's acceptable g's.
so:
fast build, smooth, tweak, g's, smooth, pump check, smooth

edit2: don't look to grammar i'm tired

As with all this that seem hard at first, start with something simple.

Try to make rollercoaster that has simple elements, like a mouse coaster, which usually has only 2D-elements. If it works out right, you can try to start experimenting with banking, twists and inversions.

If you're hand building, try to make your segments the same length. I find that 8 to 12 meters for a medium to small sized coaster is small enough to have ample control and isn't too crazy to work with. If you're working with Elementary or AHG, 2 meters is going to be a good number. But to be honest, segment length isn't that important, as long as they are all relatively close to the same length.

Don't get discouraged. NL is not an easy program to use. Even after you've been at it for a good while. I've had NL for years now and I still have quite a lot I could improve on.

The best piece of advice I could give you is that when you receive criticism, especially from this site, don't take it personally. There's a lot of knowledgeable people here and even though they may seem like they are just being assholes to tear apart your creation, they are trying to help. Do your research, try to find tutorials on youtube (I know they are out there, I've used them,) and take any advice you can from this group. You'll just get better.

The only piece of advice I can really give, since I'm not a great handbuilder by any means is this: don't expect it to be anywhere near perfect on your first try. Take it a few steps at a time; build something you're proud of, and get a 5/10. Next time shoot for a 7, but you'll now know what you need to work on so it'll be easier. You'll probably be at the 7/10 stage for a long time (my latest handbuilt ride - predator - was a 7.3, and I've been building for 6 or 7 years) until you're really able to nail the shaping and pacing of any given company, which is what I find is the hardest thing to do while handbuilding. Obviously, though, keep improving on your smoothness and style adherence while you're "stuck" at the 7 stage; that is to say don't get discouraged and just throw out junk.

Another couple shortcuts that I find useful are "Ctrl+G" and Ctrl+i". These shortcuts are smoothing and straight respectively. All you have to do is highlight the specific sections, and hit the shortcut. Of course "Smoothing" won't do the job for you, and "Straight" will only feel right in some cases, but they can help.

^It's actually just "I", not Ctrl-I for the straight. But the smooth is Ctrl-G. Kinda confusing, but yeah.

Well, I have a Euler vs. Quaternion tutorial, but I don't think that would help here. [:)] It's on NL-E though. I may post it as an article here sooner or later.

Hahaha Sorry about the confusion. I haven't hand built in a while, but it's definitely an important skill to be familiar with. The bottom line is just work with NoLimits. It takes time.
In my opinion though, the hardest part is creating 3 dimensional elements (IE: Corkscrew).

Well, ive started a ride and ive made the lift hill and pre drop. It's a Gerstlauer model which seems like a wild mouse. Id put pics up but because of internet issues with my other computer which it's on, i cannot post any. Wish me luck.
