According to today's (April 25) update at nolimitscoaster.de

No new features in the works for NL1.6, other than porting it to Linux.

As for NL2?

Get the tissues out....

"I spend my time almost completely working on NoLimits 2. Its release date is still way in the future, most likely in the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009"

(sigh)

^oh come on, do you really have to hope? you KNOW they're gonna be in it. He's not spending 3+ years to just make a big update, he's making another game. I don't see why he wouldn't, they're probably pretty high on his request list (along with 4d's and B&M Flyers).

ya, i agree. i asked to see if they could make one for the 1.6 version update, but they said that it was to late to make suggestions. bummer...
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

I'm pretty sure he said before 2010 previously, so this really isn't a bad thing.

And "all track types" is very broad...do you know how many types and variations there are? That's not the big problem...imagine modelling the hundreds of train types ever made. Here's hoping you don't get too upset when your wish doesn't come true lol.

[:D] or do like Scream Machines and give the people the ability to import track types?

It's harder than you think to make lots of trains etc. Oh well, I can wait. Should be incredible.

modelling trains would be a great function, it would really give a boost to the orginality of the rides and well, it's also way cool to make your own trains like you've always wanted to make them

^If we were given the opportunity to do custom train modeling, how would you upload it to the internet?

^The same way we upload custom coasters, objects, textures and enviroments to the internet. By clicking upload while the track or package is selected.[:D]

If NL 2 supports it you are probaly going to have to have nl 2 to ride it.

I wonder if NL2 will back support to NL1 - that's what I hate about RCT2.

in NL2 i would like to see a back support for NL1 so we can keep the dearly loved tracks we all got now.

as for the train import function thats one thing i would not like to see as you would have the serious trains and then the people who are stupid and will just make a block with wheels.

i hope to see dive trains, x-car and some prifari styles too. i just think it would be nice trains to have. but it would be nice to see some track and train styles from the lesser known companys.

as for the wait i dont mind at all because i know its going to be amazing ad i was watching NL1 1 year before it was launched all that time ago and ive never lost intrast in the program like i have others and i have a managery of coastergames. well pretty much everything except disney coaster now but i just go back to NL as its just so well created. i can wait 20 years if need be.

Okey, maybe 20 years is kinda stretching it[;)]
I think they should have the import train fuction. Im sure lots of people could make good trains. But of course, I think they should have a turn off, which reverts it to thats particular track style's default.

He says that the WHOLE ENGINE is different in NL2. I seriously doubt that any of the NL1 stuff is going to work with it.

If the entire game engine is reworked, I can imagine that even if you get a track from NL1 to load, it probably won't work due to different formulas, etc. Even 1.6 has a friction difference that causes older tracks to behave strangely.

As for me, I'm hoping for a radically different game. One that still looks realistic and has awesome features, but substantially different enough that it doesn't look like a mere upgrade from what we've already been playing.

i tihnk that would be dumb, they wouldnt do that, itd be stupid, itll be the same same type of thing im sure, just more features, but, idk.. i think that would be awful, but, rct does it, along with everyother game, so why not nolimits... and oh yeah, why is the title no limits... when theres limits[:D] lol, j/w, well, whatever it is, it better work with my laptop!! lol

You know there is nothing that says you can't have NL1 and NL2 on your computer at the same time. Why not just use the old version for old tracks and the new version for new tracks?

Well, one thing for sure is that the editor and the simulator in NL2 will be one and the same. Ole has stated several times that having two separate programs was his biggest mistake.

That in itself will make getting NL2 worth it to me. I hate building a track, then launching the sim and riding it, then going back to the editor to tweak it, then launching the sim, etc etc etc

minicoopertx, the NL1 files would prolly be loaded into NL2 because the nltrack files only store the coordinates of the vertici and control points of the track, the train type, scenery and stuff. It has little to do with the engine. But as you also said, the physics would be different and that would give different speeds and forces

Somebody PLEASE get us Arrow Suspended Coasters!

They're so awesome. B&M Flyers are 2nd on my priority list, vertical drop coasters aren't exactly too important considering we can make them pretty much fine with floorless cars, they jut aren't as wide, and 4Ds... well, they'll be very confusing without a doubt.

Also, I sure hope it's possible to run the sim on older computers, I hope it's not another RCT3. Completely reworked, so reworked that it only works on 5% of computers.

RCT3 Minimum Specs
" Pentium(R) III 733 MHz Processor
128 MB RAM
250 MB hard drive space
32MB video card with hardware T&L (Such as nVidia GeForce2 or any ATI Radeon)"

Mine was mid-low spec at when RCT3 was released, and it easily surpasses those requirements... so i'm not sure what you class as "older".
