I just started learning how to use the AHG for NoLimits. The AHG seemed to be a very popular tool for NoLimits. Recently I have noticed that the H:SAK and FVD are being mentioned and used much more than the AHG. What are the differences/similarities between these programs? Should I learn these other programs or should I just continue learning how to use the AHG?

Yes, you create your track unheartlined with programs like the HSAK and FVD's, and then you heartline them with the AHG. They work hand in hand like Homie noted.

H:SAK comes in handy whenever I need it (like awesome pumpless turns or helixes), but I've got no idea at all how to use FVDs. I handbuild most of my track and use H:SAK for some, then heartline it with AHG. Works out perfectly.

I do totaly disagree. While you can make supoerb coasters with these tools I still think that crertain types of rides just have to be hand build(woodies for example).

Other than those your totaly right. Who o who has a good tutorial; for FVD? :P

And Jimmy, that is the superb opinion of life...There are plenty talented designers on this site that use pure handiwork. Some are even better than the Math'em peeps...

And then again that's your opinion. And me thinking otherwise about what you said is my opinion. So everything is an opinion of another opinion and there fore the chain of opinionated opinons of other opinions never ends.

Conclusion: There's no need to start a hand vs. elementary flame war.

I looked at Rebekka's charts for FVDs all night tonight for about an hour or so. I'm scared to say that I love FVDs and I plan on using them in the future now that I've been successfully planting elements...Those charts helped me soo much, and I would gaurentee them to anyone who doesn't have a good view towards tooling. These're actually really fun to see what you can whip up!

Too bad Real can handbuild a track that's far technically and realistically superior than any Elementary created coaster I've seen.

As long as you can actually handbuild correctly, something I almost never see, then a handbuilt track can be just as well made as anything FVDs can dish out.

Also, too bad I have not seen one FVD coaster that has completely realistically designed elements, or even decent shaping.

Why handbuild? It isn't what a coaster company does.

Coaster companies don't use the Elementary either. Try again.

To be honest, I really doubt that. But I am waiting..

[edit]Just have to put that I only apply that to steel coasters. I like handbuilt woodies better..

I should rephrase that. Of course, a handbuilt track won't be as mathematically perfect as something created using FVDs, or be able to maintain a completely constant radius. However, a very well made handbuilt track would be so close that you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference, or that the differences would be negligible.

And I really think you're much better if you can build them WITHOUT the tools... Everybody can find the right input formula on the internet, or in a book or something, but there are only a few here that can build GOOD coasters without the tools...

Eh, I think you are just better off building the way that is most comfortable to you.

Doesn't it overwhelm you that every single person on this planet has their own opinions?

I was replying to your statement. You said that, I replied with what I thought was a legitimate statement based entirely on fact. That was not my opinion, that was a fact.

I had my own opinion, you gave me a smart response to that questioning my mind set. That was much more out of line than my comment.

Apparently it overwhelms you.

Actually, go ride the simulator at the Gerstlauer site. Gerstlauer handbuilds their NoLimits sims.

[They actually suck terribly at it [flush] Ride the Vild Svnet one, its REALLY bad and the likes of many newbers could do better]

My statement was the opinion that I was referring to as the 'overwhelming' say. You're statement could in no way be a legit fact as 'rates' and 'numbers' placed on rides are...opinions [:)]
