It's perhaps over a year away, but I think it's worth discussing and making a topic for it now.

Anyway, Ocean Kingdom is a park destined to open in 2013, as part of the Chime-Long International Ocean Resort on Hengqin Island. (It's an island! I wonder how big it is.)

Initial story is here.

Not-so-interesting is that it will open two Mack rides; one a supersplash and one a water coaster.

-SuperSplash
-Water-coaster

THE BIG DEAL that got me excited enough to start this thread is that the world's longest wooden roller coaster is to open at this park.
-Wooden Coaster

So I'm confused though...

"The park will also house a night zoo, water world, the world?????????s highest ferris wheel, the longest wooden roller coaster as well as an advanced theatre. "

(quote from initial story)

RCDB says 'longest wooden roller coaster in the world' according to said story, but the story just says 'longest wooden roller coaster.' I suppose the preceding phrase is 'world's highest ferris wheel,' so that is probably indication enough. But is it? Hmmm, curious. It is exciting though.

Here's the concept art that's given.

Image

Looks like it'll be pretty huge.

That ferris wheel is going to be 689 feet tall... almost 700 feet. Jesus! And I know this is far-fetched for a concept-art-produced-assumption, but the woodie looks like it's a little less than half the height of the wheel! Maybe a near-300-foot tall woodie? [:P]

Considering the G force limitations, does the world need another supertall wooden ride?

^^Could be an Intamin prefab though.

Which would quite literally be awesome.

That circular formation amidst the wooden roller coaster in the concept art- a loop maybe? Actually it looks more like it belongs to that grouping of circle icons above it, in the background of the art... *sigh*

A prefab would be insane... Or a GG.

Given how tall that ferris wheel must be, and the fact that the wooden coaster looks like it's about half as high...I'd say we're looking at a giga-woodie or almost-giga-woodie. So I should think it must be an Intamin...just because any "real" wooden coaster would kill someone at those speeds.

Or I think it's a model for advertising where the lift is as steep as the drop

Or maybe it's a launched giga wooden roller coaster.

So it could be even taller than our formed predictions [:P]

But I guess we'll find out eventually, so no point in debating now. I do think it's at least clear that it will consist of a legitimate lift and a legitimate steep-or-semi-steep drop all the way down [or semi-all-the-way-down... you know what I mean], not like a double or triple downer.

Oh now that i look at it i think you might be right i thought it would be all flat but i look at it again and i think it will have drops like you said maybe.
