Hersheypark, Atari Design Contest Offers Scholarship
HERSHEY, Penn. (Amusement Business) ????????? Hersheypark and the video game maker Atari have teamed to give a lucky youth a "Free Ride to College." The winner of the companies' "Design a Roller Coaster" contest will receive a $100,000 check for college and a gaming package consisting of eight E-rated Atari titles. Participants will be asked to download Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 software from the Hersheypark Web site and submit a design for a coaster they would like to see in the Hershey, Pa., amusement park. The deadline for entries is Jan. 21, 2006. Winners will be judged on creativity, functionality and other fac-tors including intensity and excitement. Three finalists will receive electronics packages, each consisting of a personal computer, a wireless router, a color printer, a DVD player, a personal digital audio player and recorder, a PDA, a personal gaming system, a wireless phone with $25 of pre-paid service, a 24-inch stereo television with flat picture tube, a deluxe computer backpack, a digital camera and a check that can be used to purchase admission to Hersheypark. Nine runners-up will receive a Roller Coaster Tycoon game valued at $35 each. A total of 99,999 Hershey's Take 5 candy bars will also be awarded.
