Which operating system do you use the most on a daily basis? If you want to you can say why as well.

I'm a Mac guy. My dad had one of the original ones and we've had them in house ever since.

I use windows XP home edition, it comes pretty much standard on most laptops like mine, I do have several friends who use Mac but I find it harder to use for some reason

Why do you find Macs harder to use? I think they are easier to use. But thats just me.

Yah, Mac OS is based on Unix. My computer has been on for 5 months without a single shutdown it's that stable. I'm jealous that you have Tiger. I still have to make due with Panther.

There's a radar system that runs Unix and its been on for like 15 years continuously. Of course it is surge protected and everything but 15 years.

Mac OS, and Monty, it's a little harsh to "hate" Macs, have you tried the newer models? (2002+) I always find it funny that people always compare the PC's of today with Mac's of 2000-2002, amazingly enough, things DO change over time for those of you who didn't know.

Brtnboarder I totally agree with you. Mac OS X is a totally different than OS 9. (I think that's what was coming standard on macs in '00-'02). The new Macs perform just as well as the PC's even though they may have a slightly lower clock speed.

You guys realize that Macs just recently switched to Intel processors right?

Also they do not perform all tasks as well. They started to lose ground the last year or so in both speed and power (pure pipeline size).

So, hence why they are giving up on Motorola and switching to the real deal.

hehe - let the tears begin.

Actually, the transition will not take place untill about 2007, I think. And its not that I hate Intel chips or anything, I'm actually looking forward to the switch because it will mean faster laptops. (Probaly with Pentium M's). The only reason, that I know of, that Apple is not sticking with Power PC chips is that there is not real reason for IBM and Motorola to develop a cooler running and faster chip than the G5. Plus you need to remember that processor speed is not the only thing that influences how fast your system runs. Memory plays a crucial part too.

The IBM chips were working fine up until the spring, IBM was supposed to of developed dual 3 ghz chips and a G5 chip by that time and they failed so Apple simply moved along. Good idea too, macs will be able to have more power in their processors for cheaper price and they can dual boot. When you break it down, Microsoft loses. They just sell Windows Software, and because this transition should boost Macs a bit and take some space from PC's, microsoft loses some ground. Good, because Microsoft sucks and it screws over it's own customers. It's a clue when users of it's own Software are making fun of Bill Gates and the company. And for the record people, Apple IBM chips are NOT the equilavent of the Pentium 4 chips. The G5 1.8 ghz is the equilavent of a Pentium 4 3.6 ghz.
