I have been working on this recreation off-and-on for the last year and a half. I will have it done by April 4th, for the coasters 30th Birthday (if it was still operating). The Orient Express was created by Arrow Development in 1980, and was the first coaster to feature a boomerang element, better known as the Kamikaze Curve on the OE.

The track work and supporting are complete, and I'm touching up scenery, as well as trying to get the station, entrance/exit plaza, and other adjacent structures done. Here is how everything looks so far.

Whatever happened to the MF recreation?
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

wow. Your rides are incredibly detailed. I love it when you see people putting a bucket load of effort into their coasters.

This looks very good. I like that you're one of the few to give a damn about Arrow shaping and attempt it properly. Remember not to be too nice on the rising and falling turns.

If you make the segments in the loop into brakes with a high speed limit, then you can space out the ties like the real thing.

^^But that promotes the problem of improper banking through the loop. I fiddled with your tip for awhile, but the banking doesn't come out right when I split up my segments. I do like your idea a lot though.

Did you try seeing what it looked like with the current segments? I think it spaces them out the same no matter how large the segment is. So if you turned them into brakes, and hid the device, I think it should look the same as my example.

p.s. Cool5, I'm not good with free nodes, I try the best I can.

Well, I anticipated getting a good chuck of the exit/entrance plaza done today, but as I started work I got hit with the "XP Internet Security 2010" virus...great. So I had to spend the day fixing that problem instead.

I did get a good amount of work done this week however. The entrance ramp is done, handrails and all. I also started work on the "Chicken Exit" and parking lot.

This looks stunning!! Did you do anymore messing around with the hidden brakes in the loop? I'm pretty sure they don't have to be small segments for it to look like my example.

Looks like the best coaster ever made for this site as for track build quality and realism and stunning amazingness.

That's what she said.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.

Looks fantastic so far. Make sure you don't make the turns too "nice".

^You said that already :)

The turns are pretty straight forward. Inclined ramp into flat turn of constant radius at the same angle. The turns are built in similar fashion to how Arrow built them. I was able to get some rough design prints awhile back, and so most of the ride is pretty accurate. Interestingly enough though, Arrow actually built their rides with some thought into them, sure they were built to be as simple and cheap as possible, but they did have radius changes on the turns just as Stengel used in the 70's. The difference being the heart-lining used on the Schwarzkopf coasters.

Thank you everyone for the kind words!

Car texture is mirrored for some reason, and I'm not sure I like the gates. Otherwise though it looks amazing.
