We won the hide and go seek game that was going on. In a sense, we ended the living symbolism that he represented. This may do more harm than good, but the thought that he was untouchable came to an end. Followers
may realize that if he, who had the resources to basically hide anywhere, can be caught and killed, what can they expect of themselves? We have to look at the big picture. Sure, he might be seen as a martyr and others might want to follow suit, bring out revenge, etc. But, what if they actually think their actions through, rethink their religion and reinterpret their beliefs, and actually change. Sure, it's a long shot, but one that was worth taking. Is the world better because he died? Sure, there is one less person to influence others to do harm.
