I recently got into FL Studio and music production, and have lately investing a lot of time in the area. I go under the alias "PARAMETRIK" on soundcloud and I have made a few tracks now so I figured I would share hit here in case anyone wanted to check it out. My latest stuff I think has been a big improvement!

Impressive that you got the hang of FL Studio. Every time I open it, I ragequit how complex the program looks.

Are there any good ways to start getting into it? I got the trial to play around with it, and it's still incredibly confusing.

^well there are plenty of YouTube tutorials even on the basic stuff and layout of the program. SeamlessR has a great channel for learning note advanced stuff. If anything just mess around until you figure it out.

Anyways I tried to make dubstep-

Wow nice talent here, I always like producing music but i always kit because i reach a point i get stuck in ideas apart from that i use mac and nowadays you need a lot of plugins in order to make a good song apart from have a little knowledge about music etc. Some plugins like Nexus are very expensive for my budget ATM.

If you like to listen some teaser I leave you a short Remix i did on Ableton Live

That's actually really sick sounding especially after the drop...

You just have to go back to what inspires you. If anything else just make a beat and mess around with sounds until you have something that you think sounds cool to YOU. Just build off of that. There's a lot of good stuff in this interview about inspiration and such..

Went ahead and made some breakbeat style stuff. Very different from anything else I've made really. Thought I would share, feel free to check the link below.

Wow. That was really good! I really like your style and the songs seemed very professional.

On another note, I just purchased fl studio (I actually was kind of inspired to purchase it after listing to some of your music). Do you have any suggestions on where to start? I've watched a lot of beginner tutorial videos about getting to know FL studio, and I know my way around the program and how to use a lot of stuff, but I just seem to be stuck in beat loop syndrome. Any Ideas on how to start making real songs for the first time? Also, how did you start after getting the program and what genre of music did you initially make?

Thanks for the support guys!

^^As far as learning how to make full songs In fl studio, it comes down to just gaining experience. For the longest time I would just mess around and try to recreate music I knew already and it helps you learn to navigate the program. My workflow typically consists of discovering a theme and making the meat of the song, whether it be the chords that the song run off of and the melody, or just an interesting rhythm and combination of sounds, and then build outwards from there, with buildups and bridges and whatever I feel like sounds nice. There's no one way to do it. Look up seamlessR on youtube he has a lot of tutorials that helped me learn how to use things like harmor and sytrus to make the sounds that I want. I wouldn't focus on trying to make your music fit a genre, but if there is a genre that you really like, or a type of sound you are inspired by then you should allow that influence.

Awesome Kyle, brilliant sound design! I've been using Fl for around 2 years now (shameless advertising link https://soundcloud.com/pre-the-fix :P) and I fully agree, Its just playing about and experimenting with stuff that is the best way to learn. I also completely agree with your comment about don't focus on fitting a genre. When I began, I did that and it really drives you into creative blocks and limits you. I tend to stray away from tutorials for making patches ect. as I find that you end up attuning to the style of others :)
