(Prepare yourself for a bit of mindless ranting [:D])
hey, I decided to watch the superbowl, because I had only ever seen like 5 minute long clips of American Football before and I knew it was bad but I was interested ... I never expected it to be THAT bad though, Jesus Christ. do you people actually enjoy watching that stuff can I ask? or are you just forced to watch it at gun point? Sorry to say it, but I think its impossible for people outside of your country to watch this sport and actually be excited by it. At one point in the game, the commentators were talking about talent coming into the NFL from overseas and a graphic came up onto the screen showing telephone numbers for young players in other countries to call if they want to try and break into the American Football scene ... the commentator said "We are still waiting for a great Football player to emerge from a country outside of the USA" and I'm thinking, well you wonder why!?
Does anything ever happen that deserves any merit what-so-ever? I mean, I know what you guys think of "Soccer" but at least in my sport, the top level players have to have an extremely high level of stamina and fitness, involving work. There is no way that a top level "Soccer" player here in England could smoke, drink excesively or eat anything apart from the food on their strict diet. But I reckon any of those players in that Superbowl could smoke 60 a day and no one would notice because they never do anyhting that makes them out of breathe anyway! They play for a 5 second period, some of them don't even move in this time, then they have a pause of at least 30 seconds, which is easily enough time to recouperate from at max, a 20metre run at a pace which a top level "Soccer" player would find laughable. Seriously, if any of them EVER brake into a sweat then they would have to be extrmely unfit ... actually, having said that, they do wear all that pussy gear don't they, they're bloody pansies the lot of them, you have got to admit that! They should watch Rugby, a REAL sport. Really though, you people make American Footballers out to be so hard when really they're not at all are they, I mean come on, I'd be 'hard' if I was wearing friggin' armour. Like I said, they should watch rugby, watch a ruck (a part of play in which players often jump up and down on other players, raking their studs up and down on them in an effort to get them to let go of the ball) and rugby players don't wear armour plating, they're 'hard' not those girly American Football players ... pfffft.
In breaks for commercials, YES, thats a break for adverts DURING the play, it said "Reebok, the only brand in every NFL locker" and I thought to myself, "NFL, the only sport where so little happens, its possible to put commercials on while the game is going on" ... thats actually a little bit of a lie though, because the same thing happens with baseball and cricket ... hang on, THAT WORSE! American Football is so bad that I can compare it to CRICKET!!!!

sorry, but thats terrible, I had previously thought that Cricket was the worst sport in the world but maybe I should reconsider. If it wasn't for the bright colours, lights and cheerleaders, would any of you lot watch it? Be honest with yourselves, because other than that, there really is nothing going on is there? You know, cheerleaders, cool! but in England, cheerleaders are used OCCASIONALLY, before a "Soccer" game just for a bit of entertainment ... American Football is the only sport I know where they have to use cheerleaders throughout the entire game to stop the crowd from dieing of bordem, now isn't that saying something?
I could commentate on American Football without watching the game, all you have to say is "He threw it, he caught it, then he fell on the floor, then the game stopped ... 30 seconds later ... he threw it, he caught it, then he fell on the floor, then the game stopped ... 45 seconds later ... [Insert something very slightly different here] and then repeat" Simple as that ... I do wonder how its possible for you to get excited by this, please someone tell me, I would like to know. But you know what they say, small things entertain small minds. I guess I just answered my own question [;)]
I know nothing I can say will stop you liking something that you have liked since you were a child, but seriously ... how did you start liking it in the first place?
Rant over ... till next time anyway [:P]
