Park News - (8/20/07) Lacking all common sense, it seems an Italian fellow climbed a 2 meter tall fence to retrieve a hat lost by his fianc????????? while riding Katun, a B&M Inverted Coaster at Mirabilandia. Focused on the hat, he wasn't paying any attention to the speeding coaster train coming right at him and was struck in the head and killed by the leg of a female rider on the coaster. Parksmania has confirmed it also and mentions that the rider broke her leg from the impact.
In a strange twist, an almost identical accident took place in 1998 at Paramount?????????s Great America on Top Gun when a guest climbed over a fence to retrieve his wife?????????s hat, only to be kicked in the head and killed by the legs of a female rider on the coaster who broke her leg from the impact.

I feel worse for the girl that broke her leg. If she had to go through the zero-g, a cobra roll, and a corkscrew in that pain...Youch!

^At least this wasn't on a rough, vibrating Vekoma SLC. But yes, OUCH!

This guy really should have thought twice about what he was doing.

That really sucks. I cant really understand how he could climb over a 2m tall fence? And yes, I agree, that I feel worse for the girl, cuz, as Gerstl said, the accident happened right after the loop, and she had to go through all those elements, plus 2 high G helixes!

I have heard tons of claims of peoples harnesses coming loose. Or they tried to get them loose in the middle of a coaster going and then for being dumb they fell to their death.

what an idiot of a guy, no way in hell does losing a hat so badly.

in the rules usually number 4 "remove all loose articals, hats, glasses, ECT"

rules are there for a reason, shurely they knew that from watching final destination 3 where the whole coaster fell apart after a camera stopped the train in the middle of a loop

And if your going to chose one place to obey rules do it on an amusment ride. I hope this guy gets arrested for breaking that girls leg and for disobeying park rules.
Trim breaks are your enemy, retracking/smoothing is your friend. I miss b&m floored sit downs. coaster count=39

The Guys girl also probably watched it happen from a front row seat behind the fence, nothing like watching your significant other get killed just a couple of feet away(pun intended).

i have to agree with gerstlcrazy, that guy death was a stupid move on his part.
So, my friend came up to me the other day and asked if I wanted a frozen banana, and I said no, but I want a normal banana later, so... yea.
