So we've been getting our asses kicked with rain the last couple weeks (that day I went to Rhode Island was one of the few nice days we've had in a while), so last night I went out and took some pics. I didn't bring my tripod and it was raining pretty hard so most of them are underexposed and grainy from hand holding and trying to not have my cam out for prolonged periods of time, but whatever.
So the waterfall on the right...is supposed to be land.
Sandbags and barricades trying to keep the street from flooding.
This pond was a good 2-3' higher than normal, and was flooding the low parts of the road.
Rocks that usually sit above the water
Rainy Washington St
The water was flowing down this waterfall ridiculously fast, usually it's pretty gentle. And again, the water to the bottom of the photo is supposed to be land.
There are quite a few neighborhoods around here that are under 3-4' of water. Lots of people now have ponds instead of yards, and you can't even get down some roads. Luckily, my house is pretty much at the peak of a hill, so we don't flood at all. Our back yard does, but the house stays dry. Our neighbors to either side have identical houses but much shallower yards, so both of them get their basements flooded. This is pretty major for us as nothing this severe has ever happened here before.
