[lol]

Parents thing... Sucks, but that's life.

School thing... suck it up princess, pretty much all of us went to a normal high school. Granted there are a lot of lunatics out there, there are more sane people. Something works. By doing it online you're missing out on much-needed social skills you need in this day and age. Hiding from the world isn't going to get you anywhere.

I'm not hiding from the world. I have a social life, its not like I stay in the house all day. I went to school all the way up through halfway into 10th grade... I don't think missing 2 and a half years of going to school is going to affect my social skills at all.

^I would say that if you get out of the house and go talk with friends and stuff like that. You can lead a perfectly normal social life.

^I go to a 'normal' school in a 'normal' town, yet I have 10 times as many friends on the internet than in real life. One of my neighbors, who has been home-schooled his entire life, has much more of a social life than I do. Bottom line: going to a physical school building doesn't mean anything.

And IntaminFan, I know how you feel. The juducial system pretty much f*&$ed my family up back when I was 12. Basically, my mom's attourney did everything he could to drag my parents' divorce case out and get himself more money. He started a custody battle, even though I clearly said directly to the judge which parent I wanted to be with, and my mom and dad both knew what my wants were. But the court just ignored it. The case was dragged out for three months, and finally ended with a child support settlement. My mom was furious at her attourney, and refused to pay for his last two months of service. She got sued for twice the amount that she would have owed, and had to start another court case to prove that she was cheated. However, the old attourney had the court's sympathy for being a quadrapalegic, and my mom lost the case. So, not only did she have to pay up to him, but also to her second attourney for the suing case.

The end result: my mom and dad lost almost their entire life savings, over $70,000, in attourney's fees over a case that should have ended within 2 days of its start. my parents haven't spoken to each-other since, and I had to listen to my mom rant and rave about how stupid my dad is and how I always seem to owe her money. And to think... if the judge had listened to me and my parents when we first started the case , it would have been a simple matter of divvying up and moving. In the end, the only winners were the attourneys. We got screwed, and my life has never been the same since.

I also take a class online for my university, took one last semester as well. Works out quite well since it's like a chatroom per say and you have to actively participate, unlike a class which you can hide in the corner and never speak at all in the semester. As for the anxiety, I too suffer from it, if you had my job, you'd understand why, so treat the liquor store people nice! I've found out that Norco 10/325 works just fine for me and helps me tolerate the idiotic people and less anxious, sometimes makes my job enjoyable like today. I can't be arsed to read the entire topic with replies so I read partly, mostly cuz I got iratated and pist of rather quickly and wish to move on [lol] And by you getting booted from court, I'd suggest trying to reverse such court order by appealing and stating your rights were violated and stating in the form how.

Typing to people on the internet is hardly the same as going out and doing it in person.

But, whatever floats your boat. I couldn't care any less about you and what you do with your life.

Tony, sorry to hear about all the issues man -- that is terrible. I am not sure the entire Federal Government is to blame, sans some morons who cannot make a decision properly with the facts -- but I can certainly understand your frustration and can agree to have empathy on this one with you. ~TJ

Oh and StLois ... I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Pheonix ONLINE and am working on my Master's from the same place ... I would recommend you simply shut up and bow out of this one pal before you charter into waters that you REALLY cannot handle.
Maybe I need to type larger or something, cause I stated this earlier.I'M FINE WITH THE INTERNET COLLEGE THING because at that age you're on your own and are making your own desicions and stuff, but at a high school age I think it's better to go to a public school so you can socialize and all, even though I'm sure you socialize outside of school, it just seems normal and,in my opinion, better.

Did you not read my post? I said I have a social life. I DO socialize with other people.

Jesus, some people are too goddamn close-minded on this site.

^And I really think it doesn't matter whether or not he's taking online high school as long as he went to a conventional elementary school and junior high/middle school. Elementary school especially because that's where most of us form and learn about social relationships.

Also, you can take college classes while in high school. Just because you are in high school doesnt mean you cant make your own decisions as far as what classes to take and where. My girlfriend took post-secondary at our high school and got 4-5 college classes out of the way before she even graduated high school.

Yes, after you were brutally corrected, you sure did state this. However, ever since your tirade of the "online education world" in the beginning I honestly have not read a single thing you said, figuring on an single brain-cell based response which might not have added anything of value. I stand corrected. However, when expressing yourself in the future, stating your opinion VERSUS generalizations directed at anyone usually provides for a more sound conversation, IMO.

Its not that we cant accept an opinion (of which I dont even remember what your opinion was) but it seems that you cant accept being corrected.

I, was not correcting you in some negative and demeaning way. I only wanted to show you that there are many options available once you hit high school. It seems you reject to accept these so to it doesnt conflict with your original statement. Im not sure why, or what, but the only thing weve told you is that theres alot of options that tailer to each students individual needs.

Thats all, dont have a cow man.

I'm just defending my opinion. You guys don't really seem to have one, you're just attacking mine and saying it sucks.I appreciate you saying you're not here to correct me negatively, and I can see you're not, but others are stating my opinion is stupid, and that I am an idiot because I differ in this issue with everyone else. Some people here are being completely immature (as I was at the beginning of this discussion)by claiming I'm stupid in all of that and a bag of chips.Like I said I'm glad you're not trying to incite me or anything but all of your sarcastic remarks aren't really helping, so I'd like to ask that you stop, before I blow my mind and get really angry. There's no need anymore to get angry(I know I already did)so I'm going to try and stay out of this unless someone clearly addresses my name to, once again,to attack and "correct" my opinion.

LOL I was sarcastic? Point out where before I inadvertantly throw another one out. I dont really care if you blow up, what can you do? Verbally assault me??

I think why people are jumping on your opinion is your opinion isnt really backed up. You state that this is your opinion but there are a hundred reasons as to why your opinion probably isnt the smartest. You may think its normal and better to socialize in school, but facts show its not nessicary.

Why do you think kids get home schooled and sent to private schools? Some public schools just arent umm...up to caliber.

That is all.

Go back to a real high-school. It's "closed-minded" not "close-minded"

stlouis, you were not expresing an opinion at all, and therefore any "abuse you recieve from here on is actually completely justified. I'm sure that IF is totally aware of what he can and cannot do, and doesn't need you to try and forcefeed him what is essentially a load of bullshit.

What you are saying is that he shouldn't be allowed to do an online course because it's not legal education. Um, he just told you it was.

Now, this may offend some people, but screw it. The only reason for your abrubt "change in opinion" was the fact that real came and completey tore your argument to shreds, and you wouldn't want to upset a well respected member of the site now, would you? Amongst other things, you were extremely insensitive to the whole thing.

Anyway, IF, that does totally suck. I can't believe the whole parent thing. As you say, you're old enough anyway to make that decision, but i don't understand why you must be a certain age to be considered able to make a decision like that. Whichever twat thinks he can decide what is best for someone and rule against the wishes of the person themselves is a total asshole (there are exceptions, of course, such as drug addicts who should not be allowed even if there is a request from the people in question) I hate everything about the whole thing. It's pathetic and rediculous and drives me crazy. I'm in a similar situation parents wise. I just hope everything sorts out for you.

Best i can do, good luck.

Geesh, Carlosio -- that is almost what I said at the top of this page to stlois and was told: "you people just can't except an opinion directed against you". Odd, now three people saying the same thing, and yet, we will be accused of somehow being wrong in all of this.

In regards to people making decisions for others, sometimes it is a good thing. But then again, certain people ought to not be allowed to breed anyone and they need these "twats" to make decisions for them from the beginning. But here, this is an issue that seems pretty cut and dry, at least on the surface as IF has told the story -- of course, since none of us were there, it is possible there were certainly parts accidentally/purposefully omitted from this tale of woe. However, again, it does seem logical that IF has a valid argument.
