Lately I've decided to give elementry a try. Having never really used it before I first found it quite daunting, and pretty much fired up a wizard and entered values to see how they effect the track. I've made a couple elements for my new ride, mostly turns/helexs, but I'm not quite sure how people can build entire coasters with this program.

Do you simply just modify the elements included in the wizard to meet your specifications? Or have you learned the syntax to a point where its more like programing approach?

Thoughts?

I don't use the default wizards anymore, and I don't think I have done for nearly a year now. It's better to use something like the H:SAK, which is much more versatile than the wizards. It's more complicated, but you can do so much more. By rotating it with the purg you can use it to make inversions too. You often normally modify the actual formula, just enter different values for the different variables.

I have absolutely no idea of what wing-over just said. I'd like to make entire rides in Elementry too, but I don't know shiz about shiz. I'm only in 8th grade.....:(
What is H:SAK??
X2 ??? Intimidator 305 ??? Millennium Force ??? Iron Rattler ??? El Toro ??? Fury 325 ??? Maverick ??? Skyrush ??? Twisted Timbers ??? Voyage

Ok, i'm in 9th and I know all about Elementary, and Wing-Over is fourteen or fifteen. It's not that complicated, just sit down and look at it. Anyway, H:SAK is a helix formula. What other non-default wizards are there Wing-Over, I'd love to see some.

There are red's formula's:

  • BowFu_BowDip

  • BowFu_BowHat

  • BowFu_ParHat

  • BowFu_Quartx

  • BowFu_SinHat

  • BowFu_SinHop

  • Cnake_Quintx

  • Cnake_SinHat

  • Cnake_SinHop

  • Cornu_Quintx

  • Cornu_SinHat

  • Cornu_SinHop

I don't know where i downloaded them from, though. I think some forum where some people posted links to them.

Thanks, can anyone post links to where I can find these formulas.

There's also a deluxe loop wizard, and immelman/dive loop exit/entry wizards too. Jimmy Yosho posted the link for the second too somehwere in the NL forum.

I've only had NL for 3 days and I think I've got it some-what down. It's not that hard really and if you start looking at it its not that complicated.

I still have no idea of how to even get track to appear in elementary...

I also only use elementary to build single elements maybe sometimes to build a strange mixture of elements.
But it seems almost pointless to build an entire coaster including lift-station-brake. I mean common that is just complicating the idea of nolimits even if it is just straight line functions.

^Agreed
Most of the times when I build a coaster I only use Elementary for an element. I find it pointless to use Elementary to build a straight piece of track for a brake run even if you could easily do the same thing on NL with no problems. Maybe people do it to challenge themseleves?

^Indeed, it's pointless to do it in the Elementary, while you can do it perfectly in the Purg. But hey, even a straight piece often has a variable you have to note: the slope! Almost every MCBR, brakerun, and even some stations have a downwards slope. If you try to do the same slope of the previous (elementary-made)segment by hand, you'll get a small bump for (99%)sure, except if your nickname is Real [:)] That's one of the points why people use tools for straight pieces.

I still don't get how you can make an entire track. I DL'ed the formulas. I still don't get it, and I have an A+ average for math....

You can't make an entire track with only one formula, offcourse. With "making an entire track with Elementary", they mean: making a lot of helices(HSAK), hills (red's formulas) and other stuff you can make in the Elementary, and sticking these elements together in the NL editor.
