Hey all,

I just wanted to present my current project. I'm building a roller coaster model out of matches. I just started today so there's not much to see. Right now it features a kind of trick track thin right after the first turn![;)]

Cool. I've never seen anything like that before. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

that can't be easy and must be really hard on the hands, but it is very original and will prolly look really good if you follow through with it

Just remember that wooden supports do NOT create boxes. They are rectangular from the side. They extend long ways farther than they reach up. So dont just use equilateral squares going up. Squish them vertically a bit ;)

Still, looks cool. Is that what appears to be a figure eight (Or double?)

YAY ive done that. I did the same thing drawing it out on the board too. I recommend using a hot glue gun, that worked out alot faster than superglue on mine. I also used popcicle sticks not matches.

Yeah, try tinypic.com. Stupid NLDC...

I've always wanted to do something like this, but make a working one. With basswood strips, or dowel rods as supports. Then styrene strips for the track so I wouldn't have to bend the wood.

Ok, pics are back up! @ real, take a look at this model
( http://www.rcdb.com/ig2955.htm?picture=1 ), the supports are only rectangular on the straight section, I'll see if I can also get that done on my ride.

Keep the match heads on and light it when your done! It'd be awesome to watch it go up in flames (sorry, i am a guy and therefore love seeing things destroyed)

some more pictures! Those free places are for the crossovers, and I've already started the wide supports in some places.

On that picture you showed me Ish, it seems that GCI uses a flattened rectangle for lifts and straight sections while its opposite on turns - its a square thats squished on the sides to create a vertical rectangle.

Thats just being picky though ;)

ypu can also put those six words in one post! This will only be a static model! I'll see if I can make the layout in NoLimits, and it's already done, it would be impossible to just build some parts without a layout!

hey, looks cool [;)]

I am going to build a model wooden coaster in the future aswell, I layed out the plans for it on a big 5x2 metre piece of wood, quite a long time ago now actually. In the future, when I have money and stuff [lol] I'm going to actually start making it. So I'm interested to see how yours turns out, so I can learn from any mistakes you make [:)]
