What you guys are asking for in terms of crashes is outside of the current graphics engine parameters. They'd need to overhaul it so theres more to collision detection than the trains. (Although detecting a support hit would be nice) Besides isn't the driving force behind NL the fact that you create rather than destroy?
The "CRASH!" sign is sufficient for me. Instead of wasting time redesigning NL to perform crashes, they should find a way to put people on the trains. Then they could tell how good or bad the ride was like the Disney Coaster.
this would be real sweet, the better thing would be real ppl in the cars and that there bodies will be physisly torn apart when striking ground, support or whatsoever...
i dont need crashes, id just like if instead when you fail to have the breaks strong enough, and it slows to like 20, it bumps the next train a bit. and if it going to fast and the bump will be too hard, it auto slows it down to less than 20 kmh (13 mph), and when you press esc to exit the ride a message comes up that says "Your breaking system, break section (insert #), is not strong enough to slow the train down. Your current deceleration force is (insert #), the recomended force is (insert #). Please fix the error and test again." i dont like it when: '(car going too fast), (slow down not enough), 'CRASH!' i want it to bump the train ahead. edges idea is cool, but not worth it. Dirks idea is awesome! maybe they'll do that. who knows, ole is a very interesting programer.
Quite frankly, I'm not even sure it's possible, considering I haven't seen any particle effects from NL, which means the engine problably doesn't support it, nor is it likely to support the physics calculations with collision and all that crap when the train comes off.
