Hey I was just watching this thing about top 10 coasters on the TV and the no.1 was Thunderbolt at Kennywood. It didn't really go into very much detail so I woundered if someone else could review it?

have you ever thought how old those 10 ten shows are? probably not. In the time they ask for peoples opinion about rides, have video material, edited the material and finally have it broadcasted. Tons of new rides are build again that might be again better then they had in the top 10. Don't believe those top 10's. Nothing can top Expedition GeForce and Katun [:D]

Yeah, I have seen that show you are talking about and they are really old. I saw it at least 2-3 years ago. They come on the travel channel all the time but I havn't seen any more recent ones.

Well, the Thunderbolt is a pretty good ride, but it's not top 10 any more.

I used to watch those shows, but now they're never on for some reason.

Thats probably one of those Top 10 from like 1995 or something. Thunderbolt is a pretty unique ride as that it dives into a ravine twice before heading to the lift and it has a two tight turn around then dives back into the ravine

It's nothing special. There's minimal airtime on the ride, the layout had absolutely no thought put into it, and the laterals are only average. Also, theres a trim brake about 3/4 of the way through the ride for no reason.

The TV special you are speaking of, "Top 10 Coasters" was aired on the Discovery Channel back in 1999. The list is almost 7 years old, so its accuracy to today's standards is virtually 0. I was even surprised to see Thunderbolt get #1 back then. Here is the complete list from that show.

1. Thunderbolt
2. Magnum X-L 200
3. Cyclone
4. The Steel Phantom
5. Megafobia
6. Raptor
7. The Beast
8. Steel Force
9. The Comet
10. Nemesis

I have seen that show when it was on in 99 it is an old rollercoaster show becuse steel phantom is in the top ten before it got made into phantoms revege. I have seen this show on the top ten coaster alot I hope that they put some more updated shows on about rollercoasters and update the top 10 becuse you know that the thunderbot is'nt in the top ten anymore. The top ten coasters were on the travel channel last year and again this year. I like the shows on the coasters they did one on hersheypark this year about the storm runner and one about king da ka so I have seen alot of coaster shows on the trevel channel there was on disneyworld today at 1130am and I have seen it before nothing new to me becuse I have beeen ot disneyworld before and it din'nt say anything about what they are buling in the park now or what is going to be buit in the futre of disneyworld. On one of the updated shows on disneyworld showed the misson space ride and the experce eveerst coaster being buit and it showed a poster of the new coaster in anmal kindom oping next year.

I still looks a good ride!

I want to see this years winners though. The best would be if they did a UK top ten! I bet Bullet would be no.1 oh wait I forgot Flamingo Land couldn't see a good ride 2cm's away so they scrapped it! [stoning]

If you want to see a REAL top 10 list, check out Mitch Hawker's wood coaster poll. That is the real deal, and is based off comparisigns with other coasters rather than total votes (which means that coasters from lesser known parks actually have a chance to be counted.)

Thank God, some one agrees with me!

Honestly, I feel you don't get enough information about the ride/coaster on the shows. They just say how tall it is, then show you on an onride cam. I find the books on coasters so much more enjoyable.
