^that thing just looks like a ghetto schwarzkopf. ha

Lil' Renegade at Southern Adventures in Huntsville, AL is the crappiest ride I have ever been on. Every time you ride it, it feels like it is going to just collapse and tear apart. I have never seen a ride so poorly maintained. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1654.htm?picture=8

The way you can explain the crappiness is that Texas Tornado is an O.D. Hopkins coaster.

Hopkins makes some awesome looping coasters. Just because a coaster's engineering is horrible and the track shaping is strange doesn't mean it can't deliver a good ride!

Have you ridden a Hopkins before?

I think that first one looked a really fun one I mean it would bet high originality! The second well what do you expect from a banged out kiddie coaster? The last one I have ridden myself at the British Fairs and I really enjoyed it even though it spins a little too much and gets boaring!

Twin looper at American adventure. Its alright, it was my first looping coaster. Its the crappest adult coaster i have been on probably, as it is just two loops with a load of crap twsity stuff at the end that is so weird and boring.

Image

Check out how they cut the seat off, turned it around and welded it back on, leaving the leg room etc on the other side. [lol] Also check out the uncomfy restraints which i could easily climb out of at any time if i wanted too.

Check out the loops thought, they are quite fun.

The crappiest wood coaster I've ever been on was Son of Beast. Pitiful. All that height, speed, and even a loop... and it doesn't really DO anything other than beat you senseless. It might as well be lumped in there with Grizzly at PGA.

The crappiest steel coaster is even easier to pick: Gouderix at Parc Asterix. It's insanely rough, it has TIGHT shoulder bars, and the headrests have this weird shape that tries to jam the back of your head into a slot between two very hard rubber pieces.

Gouderix and SOB remain the only two coasters I've ever been on where I would've gladly gotten off before the ride was over, even if it meant not being able to put it on my list of coasters I've ridden.

Hahaha, I remember going on one of these when I was about 8 or 9. I went on it a couple times with my dad, I think, and then when I went on it by myself, I got to the top of the lift, and the car just stopped. I didn't weigh enough to keep the momentum from the lift going so the car stopped before geting to the spiral. I leaned forwards and backwards for awhile and managed to get the thing moving after about 30 seconds, but it had me pretty scared for awhile. I would say that it is definatly the crappiest coaster I've been on.

^Everything I've ever heard about those Toboggan coasters is bad. There are so many horror stories like yours guitarplayer. People hitting thier heads and getting bruised and all sorts of other things. I'll be happy if I never get the chance to ride one in my life.

I had the opposite prob of not being able to get it going...

there was a carnival in town and I got there early, so I was the only one riding the Toboggan. In the station there are four cars stacked up. I got the cheapest ticket book, which was good for 4 rides, and got in the front car in the line.

The ride is uncomfortable, but fun. I love these! In the spiral coming down, there are friction plates that rub against a pad or something on the bottom of the car. This keeps the car from coming down too fast. This is a good thing! The bottom of the spiral has a NASTY drop and a FLAT sharp turn to the left. You don't want to go fast on this, trust me. Also, those cars are SO top-heavy, I don't expect the wheel assembly would hold it on that turn at high speeds...

Anyway, I rode, the car got into the brakes at the end, and I had to get out and go up to the front car in the lineup. Cool, I thought. Four ride tickets, four cars. I'll get to ride each one.

Second ride, same as the first.

Then the third car was up. On the way down the spiral, I could see the friction plates begin about halfway around the first spiral. The car didn't slow down. At all. The pads on the bottom of the car weren't making contact with the brakes. I was gaining speed. I start yelling to the operator, and when I'd come around the back side of the tower, I could see him. His eyes were even wider than mine. The look on HIS face made me even more nervous. After another circle, I could see him doing the only thing he could do... LEANING on the hand brake with all his weight. He was ready to slow that thing down before I slammed into the back of the other three cars... but my biggest worry was the drop and the turn BEFORE those brakes.

Exiting the spiral, I was hauling butt... hit the drop, and felt the track structure BOUNCE off the ground. My head slammed the roof of the car (had a knot on my head for two days), then my whole body was crushed into the seat as the car hit the bottom of the drop. Luckily, the violence of that drop slowed the car down a bit. I think that's the ONLY way it didn't break off going around the turn. I was slammed into the side of the car going around it and pinned there for the second 90deg left turn that followed.
I could see the operator, eyes still wide, bracing himself on the brake handle. The car slowed quite a bit, but still hit the final turn HARD. A nice little jolt in the brakes at the loading platform, and somehow I didn't crash into the car parked in the brake run in front of me.
The operator opened the car and let me out. He didn't act like anything was out of the ordinary (probably trying to avoid a lawsuit!) and said "have a good day. I'm closed for awhile."

Drove back by there later, and it was still closed.

Who would've ever thought that a Chance Toboggan would be the scariest coaster ride of my life?

Hmm for me it's an old looping steelie called "The Looping Star" at Margate in England. It has 1 inversion! Woo Hoo! I first rode it in 1983 -when I was a lad!- and I thought wow this is a great ride! But compared to the modern rides of today this tired old ride sure ranks low in the thrill stakes! I think it's still operating today but I think it's rollin' days must surely be numbered! [:)]
