I guess it was about two weeks ago. My new toy [:D]

2006 Polaris Fusion 600 H.O.

Carburated 600cc engine with about 123 horsepower. The thing goes like crazy. Of course the little snow we had melted so it's being a nice lawn ornament right now. MSRP: $10,400 plus 14% tax. Ouch.

I have 60 miles on it so far.

Because I'm just breaking it in now, I've only had it to 92 MPH. It has a digital display with a memory that tells you exactly how fast you went. I also got my dad to drive in the ditch alongside me at 60 MPH to compare my speedometer with the one on his truck, when mine remembered 60 he said his was just above 60 so it's pretty accurate.

Once the engine is broken in, I'm sure it will go faster. I'm guessing 100 to 110 MPH. In there somewhere.

Wow, sounds great. I wish I lived out in an area where I could ride around on a motorbike or snow mobile, but I live no where near one and we don't get out to such areas enough to even consider getting one.

neat, what sort of engine does that have? 2 or 4 stroke? the 123 hp makes me think its a 2stroke being only 600c.cs thats alot of power. i dunno though, manufactures are getting nice horsepower out of small 4 stroke engines.. , is it like the rotax engine on the sea dos, or a regular piston engine ...

It's got a 2-stroke engine, huge reed cages, W reeds and solenoid controlled variable exhaust valves. No fancy injection on it, just regular carburators. It's also just a regular piston engine, built by Polaris in the US. Their 700 and 900cc 2-strokes have fuel injection, not throttle bodies but like an actual injector into the cylinder wall, improves emissions so the EPA doesn't can them. Plus adds horsepower.

14 percent tax???????????? i guess free healthcare isn't really free..[:O] i worked on mercury outboards for a long time, yamaha wave runners too. on an engine that size a carb is the best bet.. pretty trouble free, and it's the best way to get what you want out ofa motor withut the pain in the butt of having to program the fuel system. you're right about the fuel injection though, it's mostly for economy and the environment, and really works, but i'd still rather have access to more controll. i guess nowdays most carburetos have fixed jets and they can be changed to compensate for air density at different altitudes.. i guess temperature is never a problem though.. you aren't gonna use it when it isnt cold....... [:)]

I dunno, we ride anywhere from -40F to +50F. You can jet for performance over that wide of a temperature range.

I'm lazy though and usually use large jets, because when it's -25 to -40 I don't like freezing my fingers changing my mains, and I don't want it to lean out and blow up. So I suffer when it's warm.

if it gets into the negative temperatures doesnt the snow freeze. it just seems like it would

Snow is harder when it's in the negatives but last January we had some of the best powder I've ever seen and it was -15 to -20. When it's -40 it's hard, you have to wear some pretty heavy duty clothing and I usually keep my butt inside, but sometimes I go out. Things break easier when it's that cold too. I prefer riding when it's around 0 degrees F.

I like ATV's too, I have a 2004.5 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. It's not a "sporty" one, it's more of a workhorse, but it gets the job done.
