At the end of the day Ole has to make a living, so he has been busy working
with coaster companies to taylor the software for their needs.I am sure
he won't forget the origins of why he developed the software in the first place ,but he doesn't make money from releasing free updates. I am sure at some point he will update the software and I would be happy to pay a fee
for an update. At the end of the day has Atari given any of there RCT3 updates for free (I think not). Ole runs a business now on the back of NL and as such he has to concentrate on that.

I don't know what world you are living in..... because you must be some kind of mug to pay for an update for RCT3 there are free ones everywhere.

You guys are lucky that the developer of NL is still interested enough to have the site up; we lost the official Ultimate Ride site more than a year ago and the developer pretty much threw the game away like an ugly stepchild. The only updates you'll see with that game are the ones that the fans make by way of module addons, and let's not forget about what happened to the ill-fated Hyper Rails. No Limits is probably one of the few coaster sims that is still thriving, you should feel proud.

(he means the link to get NL1.1 again hyyyper)

I think we'd all have a lot more patience if the developer would keep us informed from time to time, even if its just about a discontinuation. We've been way more informed than any other game in terms of the developer's aspect on it so for him to just stop making updates and not tell us would almost be unfair. I mean it seems only reasonable that we can expect him to tell us whats going on with NL one way or another.

I'm pretty sure he meant the link to the new update that doesn't exist, not 1.1 [;)]
Also, on a developer's note, it would be nice to hear every once in awhile what he's doing. It's obvious it hasn't been discontined, but it would be nice to be informed about NL projects he's doing for other companies, or what he's doing for us.

Usually they have contracts that are supposed to be a secret though, that's the big problem.

For example no one predicted the Motorbike addition AT ALL.

First of all, I'm a bit dismayed at the attitude shown by some in this thread. Bashing a guy for wanting an update because his building technique isn't up to "standards"... give me a break.

Not everyone has the TIME to spend months of free time working on a coaster. Not everyone has the ABILITY to get it "just right".
Not everyone even WANTS to upload their coasters, just to have them ripped to shreds for a couple of pumps or G-spikes.

Did you think that perhaps an update could include ways to make it MUCH EASIER to build smooth rides, and that the result would be some really fantastic designs... built by people who have GREAT ideas for layouts, but not enough time or talent to make them butter-smooth for the nazi reviewers. If this is the case, then I will add to the update-begging. More really good, inventive layouts can only make NL (and sites like this one) thrive. Interest will be renewed, tracks will get better, and everyone wins.

As for "you are owed nothing", I agree. Ole continues to amaze me by providing MAJOR updates for FREE. I would never have expected this, yet there it is. Ole, if you're listening, I'd be MORE than happy to pay for those big updates if it keeps your programming fingers typing away at the keys. ANY piece of software will get old after awhile, and NL is no different.

As for NL2, I can hardly wait.

Just read this on Nolimitscoaster.de:

Merry Christmas! I had not much to say in the past couple of months. Sorry for that. We have been all working hard on customer contracts especially for IAAPA 2005 and I myself have started working on NoLimits 2. At the current speed I am progressing with NL2, it will probably be finished not before 2010 because it is a complete redesign. Only a couple of basic code lines will find its way into the new source tree. Since it will take a long time for NL2 to get finished, we plan another update for NL1 in 2006. We are not sure yet what it will contain, most likely a couple of new train styles and some improvements here and there.

Its not like i said your name anywhere. Just think about waht your saying before taking direct action staright at me when i was making a good point.
