You all know USC owned them. They should have called them on the pitch when young was already down and ancelled that TD. They should have also given that fumble over to USC! The ref's were bought out imo. USC would have won that game fairly but nope TExas had to get breaks from the ref's piff. I am one pist off USC fan!

I thought it was funny. The entire grocery store was at the tv (including the customers) when we saw USC blow the game. at like 30 seconds the Texas guy just happily joggesd into the endzone and then they just happily hoped ionto the endzone seconds later. Sheer comidic bliss as half of us (the employees) cheered and the other half cried. Wonderful game!

Sorry Oscar, USC did not play up to their usual self this year. The defense looked terrible all game and Leinart started off pretty slow after the first few series when it was looking like USC was going to trounce them. You do have to admit that USC's dynamic duo overshadowed Vince Young all year, so he definately wanted to show he was a great player last night. He absolutly lit it up USC's defense last night and regardless of the downed knee, he played a great game. I wasn't a Vince Young fan before last night, but I look forward to him in the NFL.

Yea, USC didnt exactly own anything last night. They started slow, but then seemed they were going to dominate the game. Had the refs been bought out it wouldnt have even been a game.

Bad calls are made in every game. Look at the Michigan game for example.

The real key here is that USC shouldnt have let Vince run around like he did. Is 200yrds rushing really acceptable to the USC defense? I hope not. Penalties didnt make or break the game, it was the other 55min or so of play that screwed USC. No one should expect to win after letting him just run around like he did.

"Well, we couldn't stop them when we had to," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "The quarterback ran all over the place." Even the coach understood it wasnt about that call, it was about him running all over the USC defense.

Plus it was time for a new champion. I hate dynasty's.

Yes that pitch to a TD should have been called back, but, chances are they would have scored anyway. Besides wasn't there a call that Texas coulda benifited from that went for USC?

It was a great game and lived up to part of the uber-hype associated with it. It was close and Vince Young was unstobbable. If Texas lost he still should recieve the MVP award. He was crazy. Now all the talk goes to if Reggie Bush or Vince Young decide to turn pro. The San Fran/Texans game was called the "Bush Bowl" by some sports writters.

It was a great game though.

Hook 'em Horns! At this point I don't care how they won, a win is a win and if the defense had bothered to stand up for USC instead of cowering to the boys from Texas ... the "remarkable come-back" would not have happened. It ain't the refs responsibility to ensure the defense plays ... it is the defense's job.

Sho 'nuff though USC came in hoping their rep would win them the game (much like Alabama thought they had Auburn's number) -- and they got what they gave.

see, this is why i am pissed off that the refs missed ONE call (and when you think about it, vince was kicking ass, they would of scored anyways). but it gave an excuse for USC fans to bitch. and that "fumble" wws, do realize that he had the balls in his hands for less than a 1/4 of a second. imho that is NOT possesion. i hate texas, but still, they werent treated any different than USC, and acutally, they got the short end of the stick imo. on the forth down that white came up short, if you look on the replay the ref that spotted it almost gave USC the first down, he was about 1/2 yard past of where he actually went to. that kinda thing happened all game long. doesnt matter, except for the fact yall bitch for about a month. lol.

oh, and on a related note, the only reason, THE ONLY reason USC was playing for a 3rd national championship is the fact that they are from southern cal. LA. if they were from lets say, alabama, and that bama team was left out of the 2004 championship game even though they had the same record, and they won thier bowl game, they wouldnt have won a national title. only cause USC is from LA, and they bitched to the media, which is based in LA, they won the title in 2004. which imho was complete bullshit.

Yeah, that call was crap. Young was easily down, even the announcers could see that. The booth should have reviewed the play and overturned the call. I don't know what the heck they were waiting for, even from a figging satellite in space you could see he was down. I believe that call lost the game for USC. I admit they didn't play their best, but still that call seemed to shift momentum towards Texas, and it kept the game close. I don't know...seems like bullcrap to me.

another thing i just realized, that call acutally HELPED USC. if they would have called back the touchdown, another 30 seconds would have run off the clock, and they would have made the TD anyways. USC scored with 2 seconds left in the half for a fieldgoal. and texas missed an extra point casue they were in a rush. so, USC gained 4 points when they let that play in for a touchdown (3 in field goal, 1 in PAT miss).

so please USC peeps, STOP bitching. sorry to sound like an oger, but please, stop bitching, you lost, deal with it. if you would have won the game, none of you would have been complaining about anything, only cause you lost, you have to find an excuse as to why you lost the game. just deal with it. damn.

Well i am a huge horn fan, but i do agree that the game was poorly reffed when it came to the decision on what plays to review. Congrats though horns, Vince Young still owned that 4th quarter. Hes the comack kid, and he did it once again. Reggie Bush only had 82 yards rushing, so that killed USC. Leinart also blew those 11 seconds. He ran around forever before throwing. It was a great game, and im happy that the longhorns were able to come back from that 12 point defecit with only 6:43 to go. That was pretty darn good. Go Texas!

No game has perfect reffing.

But lets be honest here, that call was in the 2nd Quarter with more than 30 minutes of football left!!! If they counted themselves out after that call, then thats shame on them.

This game wasnt reffed badly at all. They are human, they make mistakes, even with the reviews. Its part of football and you have to take the hits and move on and get over them. USC did that, but in the end just couldnt get the last 3 inches they needed (and the ball was spotted at least 1-2ft FARTHER than he got). They had all the opportunity in the world, they just made mistakes.

I thought it was a great game. Of course I'm also a huge Horns fan so I am biased. However, I do believe that the call was missed, plain an simple, but it was the call. There were plenty of close calls thoughout the game. To say it changed the tide of the game is not true. Sure Texas rattled off some points but it was the first half. USC dominated a lot of the second half. That's not changing the tide.

It's USC fault that when they needed it most, they could not stop Texas. 4th and 5, ball game on the line and you don't have someone shadowing Vince Young? 4th and 2, USC needs a first down to win and Reggie Bush isn't on the field? Championships are won on big plays at big times....USC couldn't do that this year.

Hook 'em.

We will suck this next year. We will lose all of our good defensive players and part of our offense will be gone. I expect Texas to blow us out.

At least we showed they are beatable. Just like USC and Notre Dame. I really think that OSU was a team this year that could have beaten anyone, USC or Texas because of their stellar defense and our solid offense. We barely lost to Texas and that was with Zwick playing like crap and Troy Smith not being NEARLY as hot as he was the last half of the year. Plus we had turnovers galore.

Oh well though. This was a good season for great games.

man was i scared watching that OSU Texas game. They had us on our heels. But as long is Troy Smith is there i think OSU could be pretty competetive. But they are losing Santonio Holmes, correct?

^jakizle - yes, they are losing Holmes.

He doesnt need to cuss though guys. However, I disagree. You cant look back and say "well if this play went this way" and then addd the rest of the game on. Remember, the future only happens based on what happens in the present. Had the call gone the other way, its totally a coin flip as to who ends up winning. Heck, the game could have went stagnent and not scored many points.

I just hate when people do the "what if?" and then dont factor in that the game would NOT have been played exactly as it was.

i know i dont need to cuss. its an old habit that started in 2001 when nebraska lost the national championship game, i had to defend my team against iowa state people, well, long story short i ended up getting suspended. lol. but texas would have won the game no matter how that play went down. when you think about it though, that no call did help usc. they would have burnt 30 plus more seconds off the clock, that USC needed for their field goal to end the half. USC ended up get 3 points out of the whole thing. if the refs would have made that call, it would be a 42 - 35 finale.
