just wondering which GPU maker dominates the market.
i think they're probably evenly matched, though

My new ATI Radeon blows my old Nvidia out of the water.

I have an Nvidia but am not partial to either.

Whichever one has the best benchmarks with the right price is what matters most.

I currently have an NVidia card which works well for what I want to do even though it's pretty much obsolete.

I own ATI

ATI occupies ~ 26% of total graphic units while Nvidia has ~ 18%

Currently, Nvidia is wearing the "crown" in the war of GPU's with it's 7800GTXU 512 with 550/1700 or the OC'd 580/1750. ATI has lost alot of ground in the past months due to their lack of aggressiveness in pushing their R520 chips. Well they didn't exactly "lose" ground, but they gained only a quarter of a percent from Q2 to Q3. Nvidia gained about 2.5% from Q2 to Q3.

ATI = the win. mainly because of Radeon X1800 Series... and they did the graphics for Gamecube and Revolution...

Never had a good ATI. MY Nvidia chips have always been extremely reliable in normal or overclocking use and even after overclocking too fast it still handled it (with some purple dots all over my screen) and didnt break.

Nearly all of my friends that nought ATI's had issues and usually with our evenly matched machines, my NVIDIA outperformed.

Many, many other factors go into making a chipset good or bad though. I could suck out all the RAM from your computers or decrease a pipeline here or there and youd think it sucks ;)

Meh, IMO ATI deserves to lose some more marketshare to Nvidia, they haven't been aggressive enough in pushing their X1K series, the entire series still isn't released, and the prices are just beginning to fall ... even then, not comparable to Nvidia's.

I recently just upgraded my computer with a new ATI Radion X700pro over my old XT9600. $160 and oh man that made a big difference on the frame rates this is a reasonable graghic card. I also brought a thin LCD monitor and now I can play and see better. My old tubed monitor was a peace of crap. (Although we are still refering to graghic cards).

I've got a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro at 425/380 (760 effective) with a Zalman vf-700Cu cooler, got it for $20, not a bad deal.
And for all the fanboys out there (no flaming intended here...), NO COMPANY IS BETTER!! It all depends on the performance, value, and what you need in the card. It's hit and miss, let's not start an argument *recalls the many flaming threads of ati vs nvidia on anandtech forums...*

ATI. I bought a Dell XPS 600 a few months ago with dual 256MB nVidia GeForce 7800 GTXs, and they run NL like poop. I SHOULD be getting 100fps, but NL usually makes out at only about a third of that.

This could just be that Dell love sucks though.

dell sucks, the 7800 Gt is the best card advaileble,it can even run the halflife2 lostcoast level at 80 FPS. And that is with the max grap. The nvidia 6600 is better then the ati x1300, the 6800 is better then the x1600 and the 7800 gt is better than teh x1800 xl and gt.Nvidia rocks!

The 7800gt is by no means the best card available. For value, it probably is, but so far the 7800GTX 512MB version has proven itself time and again to be the best so far, although the X1800XT 512MB, when overclocked, can stay step for step with an overclocked 7800GTX 512.

My ATI card owned my previous nVidia. I mean just the features that come with the card make it worth it. Plus I've heard from several sources that when looking at video it makes it more crips, I haven't really payed much attention to it, but w/e.
My x700 Pro 256mb 8x AGP runs all games at top graphical level without any problems, except for CoD2. It has some trouble on some of the later levels when I have it on levels that are pushing it, but overall, it runs great, specifically on Halflife 2 and stuff. I'm just so addicted to that game in ways that I was never even close to with the original.
