FYI, the new and old testaments are different books, and are the guidelines for two completely different faiths. Also, about the verse you quoted... Genesis does indeed teach us many things, such as the penalties of sin and the importance of forgiveness; whether it is to be interpereted as a literal history or not doesn't matter.

My brother believes in this theory that he learned in religious studies about God not being able to act out side of the natural law that God set up. And I just got to look at him funny because it totally contradicts the whole Christian belief. Basically that says that Jesus did not resurrect from the dead which naturally is impossible, and therefor are sins have not been payed for. And so basically its just a contradiction because without Jesus' resurrection there is no christianity because it was through CHrist's sacrifice that we gain entrance into heaven, and basically if some one can prove that Jesus never did ressurect, then they have proven that Christianity is a lie.
Which give's christianity more footing as a true faith because it has the potential to be disproven, or proven (not that you could find any HARD evidence) So really thats something to consider.

Tony is quoting scripture? Someone call a doctor ...

Farley, very interesting argument. I would like to note though that this is what most folks miss about creationism and the importance of it to the Christian faith. The first 11 chapters of Genesis are the basis for "how, why, and even where we are are here." If those 11 Chapters can be disproven, Christianity basically falls apart on merit and at the foundation, since those 11 Chapters set the foundation for things into motion that brings Jesus Christ from Glory for our sins. Because of the actions of man during those first 11 Chapters of history, a Savior is needed to being repentance to us from God based on our actions. Most interestingly enough (taken on faith) is that God knew this all along, and knew we would need a Savior one day.

This is all heavy doctrine of course at the theological level, but this is the understanding as I know it of why the book of Genesis is so important.

Anyone who says they're a Christian and then says the bible is full of false stories don't have a full understanding of the bible and its purpose in Christianity.

Hyyyper, for the last time, shut the love up. I don't care what you say, you have not read the bible in any capacity if you feel that saying that is a valid argument/point to make. Even non-christians here would agree that the book is more than just a fictional story, even if they choose not to believe it. Seriously, based on this topic, i would ban you if i could. Stop posting until you have something actually valid and relevant to say.

Sorry to the rest of you for the outburst.

i can post here whatever i like, and i don't have to have read the bible to make such posts, i've heard stories from jezus araise from the dead, walking over water and other stuff...and it's not only the bible, also the tora's from jews and the koran from the muslims, heck the old testement is from the jews themselves

^Hyyyper its not that you cant say what you want but its the fact that youve said the same thing a dozen times in more than a dozen posts.

Not to mention others have said the same thing. IS your input needed for the conversation? If you arent going to add anything significant to the conversation, refrain please. You only serve to stir the pot and thats something no one likes.

Hyyyper...I hope you are smart enough to realize that nobody here likes you! You are an insignificant, little prick, who wishes he could be even as close of worthy to even post on this site...

i'm not going to join the others in bashing you.. but you don't have one... you said you don't have any experience with scripture, yet your opinion seems very subjective. you came right out and admitted that you have no idea what your taliking about. suprise everyone by posting about something you've at least given some consideration rather than just saying things that piss people off.

Too difficult and too much to ask for jay ... after 12 pages here and months elsewhere, we have validatd proof of that theory being impossible to achieve.

Hehe, i think a point well made then.

Anyway, if we could get back on topic. Maybe we can make a seperate topic for this..."Should Hyyyper exist? Weeweeslapian court to decide"

Just a suggestion.

There is historical proof that jesus did exist, but there is no proof of anything that he did

for all we know, the bible could literaly be fictional stories that people wrote
