I select... Thundercoaster at Tusenfryd!

Thundercoaster looks absolutely amazing, from the wonderfully twisted and lateral filled first drop, to the powerful bunny hops throughout the entire ride. The crowning element on this ride, however, is the insane second drop, travelling down a hillside at a implausibly steep angle, delivering "perhaps the most outrageous dose of airtime safely possible on a roller coaster." The rest of the ride is a frenzy of airtime, great pacing, and strong laterals. Combine this with a beautiful landscape and exceedingly comfortable trains, and you've got a winner.

An excellent, full length review of Thundercoaster can be found here... http://www.s104638357.websitehome.co.uk ... r_main.htm

Here are some main points from this review, in which the author rated the ride 5/5 stars.

[In reference to the second drop and subsequent turn] "As you rise from your seat, the track gets steeper and steeper still. As you turn towards the ground, the train is pulled from under you. You continue to levitate from your bench, your thighs hit the lap-bar, your toes curl in fear as you wonder just how much steeper, faster and intense this drop will get.

A final lurch sends you further skywards towards an overhead stretch of track crossing, before you are pulled back into your seat as the train levels out and sweeps around a 180-degree right-hand turn.

In one of the fastest stretches of track I have ever known on a wooden coaster you absolutely pelt it round into a skyward climb up into a double bunny-hop, the second jump of which throws you over the lift-hill."

"this parabolic drop is perhaps one of the finest drops ever crafted out of wood."

"For the first time since Tonnerre De Zeus, Thunder Coaster has got the fine balance of airtime and laterals just right. Also well balanced, the ride is smooth enough to give a potent and forceful ride, but throws you about enough to remind you that you?????????re on a wooden coaster."

"Thunder Coaster is beautiful. The mottled mix of sweeping turns envelope the towering peaks of the lift-hill and infamous second drop as the whole ride straddles the rocky hillside on which it is built. The pathway wraps around the ride, as it undulates up- and- over the dramatic landscape, dotted intermittently with evergreen trees, lumps of rock and grassy knolls."

And I pick Coaster at Playland, located in the city of Vancouver, Canada.
It is one of the last Carl Phare coasters still standing. The single bench articulated trains that are found on this coaster were the inspiration (as far as I know..) for GCI's Millenium Flyer trains. These trains allow for some incredibly tight turns.
One of the few coasters that keeps getting more exciting right up to the final brake run.

Enough with the words, pictures do this ride enough justice;

I choose Rampage at Visionland, if that's taken then I choose Medusa at Six Flags Mexico, if that's taken then I choose The Boss at SFSL, if that's taken then I choose The New Mexico Rattler@Cliff's amusement park.

Great pick Fornie, I'd say personally that thats is one of the top 5 woodies in the world, the airtime and overall thrill as well as the single-position lapbars cause for an amazing ride.

^ nightride (if any of you know him) said it has violent air time, and it gave him bruises from hittin the restraints so hard. I don't know about you, but next time I'm up in that area (should be some time in the near future) I'm definately dragging my parents there.

^never heard of the guy. his site seems kind of wierd, and that coaster he has that he is on, that is depressing, no coaster should go to waste.

and ive just downloaded some of his tracks, i dont see how he could be considered a legend. he sucks at NL. his "best track ever by me" sucks ass. pumps and bumps all over the place.

How dare you even question the greatness of Joe dude. Hes got more talent in one of his tracks than youve ever build in your life. You clearly dont have the NL-developed eyes enough to see that the shaping of everything is PERFECT, many people dont see about shaping, but smoothness these day. You should try to look a bit deeper and ignore those transitions. After looking at the last 2 helix's on Project shine, come back here and tell me sucks. [}:)]

Thundercoaster was another good choice dcs... It was a hard decision for me between that and megafobia, as they have a very similar feeling to them IMO. I mainly went for Megafobia because it's a CCI, and because it seems to offer more straight (bunny) hills and I had the very twisted stuff on Thunderhead already. [approve]

Too bad the ride hasn't aged very well. In its first season it was running amazingly. The Second drop was just insane. Imo this coaster was propably bether than Balder. But now the ride is rough and slow. The second drop is still fun, but nothing compared to its former glory. I've heard some people say it is because of the heavy cars. After what I've heard the ride was designed for some other cars. Anyways I hope the park will restore the ride some day[:)]

Yeah SFMM homie, that Joe guy is only decent. I don't think he sucks like some people here, but he's not that great, at all. Some of his shaping is good, but some of the turns and stuff aren't true to the style he's building in. Also his pacing in some of the tracks, while exciting, is way too fast for a real ride...combine that with insane lengths on that one ride, and you have a pretty unrealistic coaster. I enjoyed them, but he's definately not any where near greatness.

X- I've employed only the most qualified mechanics in my park, comparable to those at Holiday World. Once moved to my park, they should be able to restore Thundercoaster, using conventional methods like retracking and intense daily inspections.

Thanks for the comment though, like other people said, I like to hear peoples' opinions of rides, especially ones I haven't been on.
