Meh, I'd have to say those SBXL commerciaks were sorta so-so. OTOH, back to the game. Screw all those moronic calls and reviews. At the end of the day, there's only one thing I can say...STEELERS! STEELERS! STEELERS! STEELERS!(waving around the closest thing I can find to the Terrible Towel! LOL!)[:D]

This article says it all:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5310192

Sad they had to win it like that. Im not a total "anti" Steelers fan. It was nice to see Bettis and Cower get their day in the sun. However, the way they did it wasnt anything I would brag about. Horrible officiating. Overall pretty crappy play. The only reason they got points were on large plays that of which only one worked as designed and was run as such. The other came from a "hail mary" style pass and the other...well, the article covers that.

Congrats to them but I hope its not one they go back and tell everyone about. Even the Steelers themselves should be able to look back on it and know they didnt win it like they should.

=================

Wanted to add:

The TD called back for offensive interference was also bogus. Even had he NOT pushed off (which wasnt a push...was more of a steady hand) the Steeler could NEVER have made a play on the ball. I also dont think the "push" gave Jackson any advantage on that play.

The plays were called so badly even my MOTHER told me so with me instigating an answer. THATS bad. She doesnt watch football.

=======================

One last thing...To Tcon -

Im prophetic with those kinds of games. I can pretty much see ahead enough to know the game would be won by bad calls right from that first one, hence why I posted it. Also, you cant say that you were paid back because you WON that game. It mattered not, didnt it ;)

I would be a betting person if I wasnt against that activity.

What is with you guys? American football sucks full stop! I tried watching the game with an open mind as possible last night at like 2 in the morning...and just couldnt help but wonder 'WTF is this all about!' It seems even more pointless than English football. I really do not get it at all. Its a case of one guy throwing a ball and everyone running into each other, it's retarded! It's not like it's even a game you could just go play with a couple of mates, it makes no sense. I guess it's that wierd American culture. Also whats with the silly names for the teams? It'd be easier if they just called them by where they come from. I sat through most of the game trying to figure out where the hell the steelers even came from, god knows who the other team where to be honest. I just know the steelers where playing. I think they where the white ones...i dont know, they all looked pretty stupid to me. Oh and before someone comes along and tried to bash English football, just so you know i hate that too. You cant really call it English football anyway anymore, all the players come from some exotic country and to me it's boring as hell too. American football just takes boring and mixes it with a whole new level of stupidity....yeah, i'm done ranting

Its kinda the same here Edge. I don't understand half the sports in other countries. If you ask about rugby, I would have no clue. And anyways guys, why is it worth arguing when the games already over!?

I wasnt really trying to "argue". I used that link as proof that even a Steelers fan (or someone who wanted the Steelers to win) saw the complete shenanigans that went on yesterday.

It was a dark day for Super Bowls, I will say that.

Hrmmmm, lots of bickering and puffing out of chests here for what? Where is the Vince Lombardi trophy? By now, probably still under Jerome Bettis' pillow, where it belongs. End of story -- we get bragging rights for a year .... no one else does.

No matter the opinion of the cretins here or those calling themselves prophets in regards to football (please Anthony, just stop brother), the Steelers are the World Champions and nothing anyone says here will change that. They won. The second half was ALL Pittsburgh and it is too bad NO ONE taught Hasselback anything about the concept of CLOCK MANAGEMENT in a football game. He blew it, more than once in that regard.

I am a die hard Steeler fan and have been since 1976 when I was 4 years old and saw them in the old Three Rivers Stadium. For the past 6 years the Pittsburgh Steelers have played consistent football, time and time again. Sure they have had their problems, but who hasn't? At least they did not suck all year and finally decide to play well in the Playoffs like some other teams of recent memory (Pats and Cowboys)

They have come so close so often only to beaten by the likes of the Patriots (nice to see Tom Brady got into the game somehow cause it sure was not his playing that did it this year), and I for one, am horse for the amount of screaming going on last night here at the Conwell ranch.

The Steelers have won - and all your insults, false hopes, and ragging on officials does not change a thing. This is all that matters:

This should be my last post on this thread because truly I am exhilarated for the Steelers organization, and for those fans who can truly call themselves "Steelers Fans".

I usually try and watch the superbowl for a bit of a laugh at the expense of everyone involved, but because of work now, I was in bed by the time it began, so I didn't catch it this year ... not that I'm bothered obviously [lol]. Rather than ranting about how awful American Football is, like I do every year, can I just say something to Edge regarding "English" Football ... You said about not being able to just go and play American Football with a mate and shizzle, well I think that's why Football (soccer) has so much appeal, because anyone can just go out and play it, all you need is a ball, you don't even need any friends, because Freestyle Football is something you can do on your own and is good for you cus "English Football" Is one of the most physically demanding sports there is when played properly, because it's none stop, unlike some sports *cough* American Football* [lol]. Edge said it's all boring, including English Football ... well, some people find most sports boring and pointless to watch, like yourself, but there isn't a single person who wouldn't find it entertaining to pick up a football (Soccer ball) and start trying to do tricks with it, etc etc ...

Anyway yeah, like I said, don't wanna start moaning about American Sports (apart from Ice Hockey) again like I usually do, cus basically you've heard it all before and it's not as if I'm going to stop you loving something you've loved your whole life is it? [lol]

Whoever won, I dunno I haven't been paying attention, well done to them, they obviously did the least standing around .... although obviously they still did a lot of it ... [lol]

"TJ "wearing the black and gold since 1976" Conwell" wearing the Wolves away kit since 1976? Didn't know we had many fans in the states [lol]

You make some really good points there TConwell, but I just wanted to state some things about the Seahwaks since you had your little rant on the Steelers. First of all, Matt Hasselback knows how to manage the clock, I don't believe he did anything wrong and if you heard what had happened at halftime from the play at the end you would agree with me. Matt Hasselback played a lot better than Ben Roeth-whatever and he played better than the whole Steelers team. Little mistakes like Seahawks not catching the ball have nothing to do with him, besides last time I checked, Ben Ro-whatever threw 2 INT's, he did absolutely nothing as a quarterback all he did was a TD run and he didn't even get in through that. I would also like to agree with Real on the calls throughout that game. Okay pass interference on the TD pass? Ummmm i dont think so, he hardly even pushed off and the ref didn't throw the flag till the Steelers CB started whining to him. And I think we all know the QB run was not a TD, my god it wasn't even close, people talk about inconclusive eveidence but the only eveidence in that review was that he did not get in the endzone.

Altogether, the Seahawks played much better than the Steelers but from little mistakes and bad calls, the Steelers came out with a victory. Seriously though, Hasselback should've gotten MVP even if his team did not win.

Steelers fans - Were you not helped enormously by the reffing or did you actually win the game on stellar play?

Ive got about half a dozen professional reviews (both Steeler fans and no) that tell me they played horribly and got very fortunate.

Tcon - Do you think I actually think Im prophetic or was it more of a metaphor?

Woodie, I find it amusing that you seeem so certain about this when hndreds of people who make a living on analyzing football state otherwise. The Steelers won and that is that, though it is quite unfortunate that the game was given to them rather then them earning a super bowl victory. I would have much rather seen a well called game in which the Steelers won fairly by 21 then see a game in which the reffing leaves some doubt as to who truly was the better team, but the Steelers won, they have the trophy, and as dissapointed as I may be about the Seahawks loss as well as the reffing nothing can be done about the end result, congrats to the Steelers and Bettis on their victory.

Shut down by Jimmy, nice one. And I have to agree with Tcon. The trophies already in Pitt and Hines at Disney World. Parade at 11 A.M. tomorrow! Should catch some highlights on espn in the afternoon. Steelers are your champs for atleast 360ish more days!

I know this may seem out of place, but my pick for next year is the San Diego Chargers.

Catch any of the ESPN opinion based shows today? I only saw parts of Cold Pizza and they were ranting that the most memorable part of this super bowl was the half time show. The Steelers won and thats part of the record books, yet they still won't get a ton of respect from it like the Patriots have in years past.

You are right -- 5 SuperBowl wins in their history is nothing to be proud of or gain any respect for -- they should be shunned for ever winning 8 games in a row, three of them playoff games and all on the road. Too bad we have those who seek to find all the bad things in everything. <cough>

Did the current team win 5 super bowls? Nope 4 of them were from more than 25 years ago.
Do the 49ers have such a huge degree of respect this season? Nope, but they have won 5 super bowls.

It is possible to respect the francise but not respect the team. The game wasn't that exciting. All I'm saying is that even though they won, the game was a shitty ass game where both teams played piss poor and it didn't come down to a Adam Viniteri (sp?) field goal to win the game. (I actually hate the Patriots) but I think its good that all of their games were close and down to the wire.

If the Steelers would have rolled over the Seahawks and totally dominated like the 85 Bears, I would respect the fact that they played a good game. But they didn't. End of story.

I just got back from the victory parade, it was awesome. Too bad my camera ran out of batteries before the parade got to where I was.
