Count me in, although it's unlikely I'll complete a track. Might as well keep the oppurtunity open.

Ah, don't worry about it man. Do you best and who knows, you may end up doing a hell of a lot better than you first though.

There is NO way youll ever judge these in a timely manner.

If even half contribute tracks thats 31 tracks. At 10 minutes a peice that 310 minutes which is 5 straight hours of judging. I guess its possible but you better have alot of free time planned out ;)

Is this the largest "turnout" so far?

Yes, this is now officially the largest contest in WWS.com history. The previous record was 44, set by last year's match-up contest.

As for the judging, there is a reason that I gave myself a week to do it. Last year, I managed to judge ALL of the tracks within the 3-day limit, so I feel more than able to judge all of the tracks this year.

Woops, I take that back. The previous record was not the 2005 match-up, but the treetop. I did some research, and here is the official list of the 5 highest-contestant contests in WWS.com history...

1. (60) - 2006 NoLimits Tournament (2/26/06)
2. (45) - Treetop Challenge (3/4/05)
3. (44) - 2005 Match-up Contest (4/9/05)
4. (40) - Designers Elite (7/27/04)
5. (37) - Jazzland Inversion Challenge (11/12/05)
5. (37) - TightFit Contest (7/27/05)

god i cant wait for this to get started! when i am sick, and i can be on the computer 10 hours a day, no contest...then, when i aint sick, and i have overload of homework, then there is the contest. lol. ive also got a question about this contest though...what if there is not 16 people that submit a track (i know long shot, but this is a what if question), what will happen then? a bye for the top rated track?

I guess if there was an odd number of entries, than that could be a way to go. But hopefully there is an even amount giving everyone an even oppurtunity. I can;t wait of ind out on Sunday though! Too bad I have some work to do. But My home work is very limited, so getting rides done shouldn't be a problem at all.

I doubt we will have to worry about that. We have 61 entrants, plus the early rounds are always easier. But, yes, you are right. If there were not 16 entries, the top seeds would get byes.

Once the qualifying round is over, and we move into the brackets, it will be a bit different though. If neither person in a group submits a legal track, then the highest rated track that did not win a match will take the place of the winner from that group. We got to see this in action last year, when MF2001 made it into the semi-finals that way.

Nope. Not Jazzland. The "Wild Mouse In Da' House" contest had only 2 entries submitted. Of those 2 entries, only 1 was legal, and the other one was complete s***. That is the only contest in the history of WWS.com that did not declare a winner due to inactivity.

hey cjd, is there going to be a theme this year to the contest? like last year it was coasters opening in america, could we assume it will be the same thing this year? or will it be something different?

That wasn't the theme last year... after all, the template in the finals was based off of 'Rita'. The theme was 'coasters opening in 2005'. The rounds were based off of Hydra, Hades, ShieKra, Rita, and Kingda Ka. The overall theme will be the same this year (coasters opening in 2006), but the templates will be MUCH different. One of the good things about doing this theme is that 1. people are looking forward to all the new coasters, and are excited to build their own versions, 2. the coasters change every single year, giving new templates and new inspiration constantly.

The only difference is that this year, I will be thoroughly researching the coasters in question in advance, so that the templates and build scenarios will be MUCH more realistic. You'll see what I mean on Sunday.

There will be a theme every year. I'm still looking for one for next year, so any suggestions are welcomed.
